Dear all Just a quick note to let you all know (please forgive the group email!) that Linda and I did our 10 mile run, which let me assure you has shocked me! I honestly never thought i'd do it, though i had no doubt at all that Linda would! It was an incredible day, from the not knowing what to wear because of the wind and the rain and the generally dreadful weather, right to the medal ceremony we held between us on the bus back to our hotel (which we nearly missed - long story!). The wind made the run gruelling at times, especially for the last two miles, when it was at it's strongest coming off the sea, and i have to admit, for a while there, i felt like walking, as many others did, it was so tough. But we persevered, and eventually got through the worst of the wind, and found ourselves at the finish line, where tears were shed. It was a very emotional moment, not least because we'd achieved something that we weren't sure we could achieve, but also, of course, the thought of the promise i'd made Sharon..to run every step. That's not to say she wouldn't have let me off if i hadn't, but a promise is a promise! Though we'd set our target at 2 hours and 10 minutes, we managed to do it in 2 hours and 4 minutes, and we are both convinced that without the strong wind, we'd have managed it in under 2 hours..but we'll save that for next year! So, thank you, from both of us, for your wonderful support, and your sponsorship, which is of course the main purpose. Between us we have raised over £3000 for Macmillan Cancer Care, such a wonderful charity which thoroughly deserves all we can give, as they give so much to those who suffer from that dreadful disease. From our hearts, thank you. Much love, becca xxx PS: if you haven't yet sponsored me and would like to, you still can at www.justgiving.com/teams/fab51 thank you
