....we Saints fans should "Keep calm and carry on" in my opinion. I have read several posts saying SKD, the defence, and even Nigel are not good enough and that we are certs for relegation. Well there is not much that we can do about that other than boo and hound a very promising, intelligent, astute young manager out of his job, is that REALLY what people want?. The transfer window is closed and the squad has been selected and we just have to go with what we have got until January, no amount of doubts expressed by fans is going to change that fact. My own personal opinion is that we have bought very talented young players with the long term very much in mind, the team may have a few 'teething' problems, but when everyone is fully integrated and we get a few positive results then watch us go. It could be that the club need to add 1 or 2 players in January, but until then I will be doing my best to encourage the lads with my full support. COYS!
It's all too easy to dissect performances and point the finger, particularly on a forum devoted to that very subject matter. One can only expect a degree of finger pointing and dissatisfaction from a group of people who all care passionately about their club. Some of the criticism is reasonably justified, some tenuously justified but most of it is simply the product of one bitter and twisted no mark who has nothing better to do than heap his own misery onto others. Even his justification for his behaviour is entirely contradictory to his actual behaviour since he started posting in earnest toward the tail end of last season. He was just as malodorous in the run in of our extraordinary promotion campaign as he is today. I can only assume that he started posting here after being banned from www.mylifeisoneendlessdowner.com for being a little too pessimistic. The tone of the board will change as soon as his inevitable ban is invoked. I've certainly seen enough quality from our boys to think that we could put together a good string of results sooner rather than later, particularly after the new signings have settled in. That should galvanise us until January when some new faces may well be required. Right now, there's nobody else I'd rather have in charge and I'm sure we'll see more Manchester performances than Arsenal ones going forward.
Fair enough FLT, but it does frustrate me when I read things like "we are certs for relegation", I mean, talk about a defeatist attitude and we have all heard comments about players at matches, it makes me wonder if some fans actually derive enjoyment from football.
