I was asked recently if by changing the name of the Red Bull Renault to Red Bull Infiniti meant that the engine make was now Infiniti and if Renault could theoretically supply more than 3 teams with engines given that they would be supplying them under different names. The naming convention of a team is defined in the rules as chasis manufacturer followed by engine manufacturer. Although allowing Red Bull to change their engine manufacturer section of their name to Infiniti and this therefore allowing the engine make to be recognised as Infiniti it does not mean that Reanult go from supplying 3 teams on the grid to 2 (the 2 Lotus teams). Article 13.3 of the sporting regulation stipulates theat "A major car manufacturer may not directly or indirectly supply engines for more than three teams". It is the "indirectly" part of this article that would prevent Renault as an engine supplier to supply any more teams than the ones they currently do. So just in case any of you were wondering the same, or come up against the same question thee is the answer.
It means RBR cant blame Renault now for building a car that blows up all the time also see here: http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/34440-Red-Bull-Infiniti
Infiniti sounds like one of those crap names that they come up with in the Apprentice for selling tat, who thinks of these names?
