And attendance what about if the club sold dirt cheap beer to season ticket holders. I know that I sing more after 5 pints than I do without a drink. Let us say season ticket holders got a £1.00 a pint deal. Also they could provide a few tables and chairs creating more of a pub environment to tempt people in before the game Are there any rules on clubs selling cheap beer? I don't know the ins and outs of if the club pay for the beer or if brands try to undercut each other for the business? I would think there is some business sense in what I'm saying. I know I won't drink or eat in the ground due to prices plus the pubs do plenty of deals and the burger vans are cheap. I just feel the club could do more in this department? What do u think?
Pretty sure they class all food and drink as income, the chances of them cutting prices are practically nil.
Does anybody reckon the numbers being down could be smoking ban related, not just ours, across the board? I know some people who couldn't imagine 2 hours without a snout like..
They ought to cut the food & beers prices. If things were priced on quality they should be paying us to eat & drink it as they're rank. Pretty sure the club contracted it out though.
Would imagine the beer & food sales is put out to tender on an annual basis. The club will probably get their money upfront or on an interim quarterly basis. Up to the catering company to then make their money by setting prices. of course this could be utter b*llocks but, although a good idea, cannot see the cheap beer thing happening. It is a good suggestion and it would be nice if the catering company were pro- active AND not £5 for a pie and pint.
I think this is not a bad idea, how about having a happy hour between 1-2 that would get people in early instead of them being in the pub. When its freezing I prefer getting in early, getting a pie and pint and putting some bets on and having some banter with a few other fans. I just hate the plastic cups...
We always eat from the burger vans before & after, good value for money. I have to drink on the concourse as I take the bairn with me. Two pints at most as it's ****. Cup of tea at half time.
Possibly, one of the last times I went (the lad wanted me there as he wanted to be beside the away supporters to see what it was like, plus a couple of his mates had got cheap tickets) I was gasping after 20 minutes. Had a look behind us and a load of empty seats up top near the away lads. So I slowly struggled up there (regretted later when it took me nearly an hour to crawl out) and sat up there smoking away. Just me and the lads. They actually has some canny craic with the away lads. I did notice there was a fair bit of smoke rising from the middle of the away lads mind.
I just feel so much more could be done by the club. Surely they would make more money if the did there own sales? After all people would only tender if they make more money for the offer they make. That aside though there is more the club could do for the match day experience. Sitting in the concrete and breeze block spartaness brings winter to the soul....
I think it has had some effect. I stick a patch on but have still sneaked the odd one in the bogs just before half time.
