It's been an incredible year. Promotion against all the odds with a crack A-Team assembled by NW, the maestro of the Championship. Then we had the Faurlin fiasco, followed by our loyal fans not being allowed to celebrate our greatest achievement in 15 long painful years. The we had the outrageous situation where our owners wanted out, but wanted to make sure we were rightly bucked before they finally left town. Then we had the sad situation of NW begging the misfits from other Prem clubs to join us in the last week of the transfer market. NW must go down in our history as a gentleman and a fantastic manager, but unfortunately the Prem was again a step to far for him. Our hastily assembled squad of overpaid egotistic underperformes then slowly and painfully reduced what should have been our glorious return to the Prem to tatters. A new manager came in and and a bright new dawn was heralded. Alas, all that followed was more frustration, disappointment and in recent weeks tangible anger. You really would not believe our story if you read it in a book. I love this forum. I respect every member here, even if sometimes i scratch my head at some of the posts that are written here. We are all brothers in arms. We are QPR. We share the joys, the pain, the hurt, the emotions together. Now we find ourselves once again knee deep in a quagmire that is not of our making. Yet again our beloved club has been let down by people masquerading as footballers. These pre-madonnas have let our owners, manager and us the fans down so badly. I don't get pissed off too easily, but i sometimes struggle to control my temper at these so called players. We the fans have suffered for so long. Where is their passion? where is there desire? where is there love for our club? The answer is simple guys, its missing. I have faith in Amit and to a lesser extent TF. We have had so many false dawns over the years that it is very difficult now for us to trust anybody. We are now in a perilous situation. Our survival in the Prem is hanging by a thread. I know many of you think we are already down. It's hard to argue with that. It does not look good. But why have we all spent small fortunes following our club up and down the country. Why do we wish every monday was a saturday. Why do we stick our chest out when we say the words QPR. Quite simply, it's because we love our club. We have hoped and prayed for a return to the Prem. Well now we are here. The supporters of Bolton, Blackburn, Wolves and Wigan are just as nervous as we are. But i bet they still believe, and so should we. We are not down yet. Most of the new players we have bought might not love our club just yet, but Derry, Kenny ,Hill, Buz, Smith, Adel etc etc fought over 46 games last year to get us to the Prem. The hearthbeat of our club is still strong and beating. Why spend all of next year hoping for a return to the Prem when we can't even believe when we are here now. The next 8 games will be tough. Do we throw in the towel or do we fight together. Come on, buck up, lets enjoy the next 8 games instead of wishing the season away.
Spurs and Arsenal at home, the Scum away, for me every game is a fresh start, I've waited 15 years for these games, what's not to look forward to? Nice one Nuts.
Great post NUTS! I just hope if we do go down it'll be with all guns blazing in similar style to Blackpool last year, not a spineless surrender and who knows? A miracle might just happen...
Nothing that's worth any value in this life comes easy. Did we honestly think that this year would be easy.
Great post mate. I really do hope Hughes plays the players you mentioned - Smith, Buzsaky, Mackie, Helguson. They cannot do any worse than the others can they - at least we know they will give 100%. That is all you can ask.
we have players at bthe club that genuinely care and have worked their wotsits off to get to the premier league. Cannot see them giving up without a fight. However...we also have some that are here for the money.......
If our heartbeat is strong and beating we are being suffocated by the mercenaries. We desperately need to rediscover the soul of the club. If we need to be relegated for this to happen, so be it. It took a second relegation and Ollie to do it last time we lost it, who will do it this time? I don’t see Mark Hughes as the man. I’m very happy with Tony and Amit in overall charge. Amit has shown a good understanding of what makes this club special to us, and I have no doubt that Tony will learn to understand this too. But Hughes, I don’t see any passion for the club in his eyes, I don’t hear any passion for the club in his voice. We are just a port of convenience for him, not a destination. This doesn’t mean that he won’t keep us up, but regardless of whether he does or does not, we need to seriously look at the playing staff and find some new players that really want to play for Q.P.R. As you rightly describe Nuts, we have been through some very painful times and we look set for some more. Despite everything that has happened this season, it has been special. I didn’t ever expect to see Rangers back in the Premier League (apart from for a few months after Briatore and Ecclestone first took over). I can’t claim to have loved every second of it, but the highlights will live long in the memory. As for the future, whatever happens this season, I now expect us to be an established Premier League side in 5 years time as long as Tony and Amit stay onboard, I just pray that we rediscover our soul on the way.
Christ! Nice to read a positive thread and cheered my Tuesday morning up! The sun is shining, bring on the Arsenal! Good stuff one and all!
Roller and Nuts (sounds like an indie group eh?) Both great posts guys; and as i sit here on the balcony, bottle of stella in hand, flicking through this evening posts; I find myself actually smiling and starting to believe again! its been a tough season, but i have loved every minute of the passion, enjoyment and the pain. I believe we could have a slight chance of pulling of one of the greatest comebacks ever....this is the Prem, anything can happen So Thanks guys, you've restored my faith and i am once again a believer....fo the next 8 or so games anyway..... Keep the Faith brothers ( and sisters!) UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR'sssssssssssssssssssssssss
Fantastic post Nuts can't believe I didn't read this earlier. A few years back I was working with a company that was going under and one day one of the directors made a speech a rallying call that was quite long but basically said "now is a time where we need leaders not followers and we need every last man to be a leader from today". Everyone took this on board that day and the company went on to be successful and flourish. Point being if they could gather the players and read your post and add the bit about needing leaders we may just pull this around, we just need belief & passion because we have the cause!
Thanks be to feck - a positive thread at last! I tuned out for the last few days 'cos the negative stuff was doing my head in - enough crap going on without having to layer on to of it! Well said Roller, and the important point is that there are other teams around us in the same mess we're in. 50% points success rate in the last two games BEATS the 26% points success rate in the previous 28 games!! That's the sort of growth curve I like to see! On the Up lads, on the Up!!
It's these sort of postings that restores ones faith, it never was going to be easy, finishing 17th would be a huge achievement and it is still do-able. Up the R's
