I'm pretty sure this was touched on in another thread recently, but I can't find which one.
I don't condone booing or jeering the team after a particularly poor match, but as Chris Lakey points out here, each of the 28,000 who go to each home game are entitled to express their point of view in any legal manner they please.

My main reservation is that the players themselves will know if they've misplaced passes, not busted a gut to win that second loose ball - they shouldn't really need the crowd to tell them how poorly they've performed.

On a completely unrelated note, well done last night to Newcastle for stuffing Man Ure and to Bolton for beating Everton and keeping us in ninth spot <ok>

Oops, just posted straight after! The thread was the what's the matter with some people one

Wile it's nice to keep our position in the table, part of me thinks I'd prefer to see Bolton failing to pick up points. They're still our fellow relegation candidates, unlike Everton, I think.

Dropping into the third tier with a bunch of players who seemingly couldn't give a stuff deserves to be booed. That aside, I've never booed a City side. Everyone has a right to express their opinion, of course, but booing seems to me to only ever lead to undermining confidence.
Nothing wrong with a bit of a grumble, but booing's daft in my opinion.
