http://www.foxnews.com/sports/2013/06/14/fifa-rules-male-players-can-wear-turbans/ While searching to clarify whether Suarez applies if he's sold abroad (it does) I found this. Not sure I agree, doesn't the knot on top provide an extra 2/3in height, enough to alter the flight of a high ball going for a header against a bloke with, well, lets say bald, is that not an advantage for turban wearers?
As most of you know my knowledge and interest in religion is pretty much non-existant, but isn't long hair wrapped up in the turban to form that bit on top? If so, i think anyone could achieve something similar by growing their hair and using some gel (or a hair net, lol). I don't see the problem with it tbh.
The famous North Afghan team the "Taliban terrors " have been wearing them for years. They have a pretty explosive style .
You've just wrote a problem! Anyone??...and just how are the baldies supposed to that!...and how long before some crafty Sikh starts hiding a cobblestone in the wrap, bulleting headers off the crown of his head!
So do we have to lower everyone to the baldies level then by forcing all hair to be shaved to level the field? Why isn't this done already? Jason Lee had a fricking pineapple on his head and nobody cared (apart from Baddiel and Skinner). *all hair on head
I think wearing a turban would be pretty disadvantageous in most situations, so I don't see a problem with it. They might have to apply some sort of regulations to what does and doesn't count, just to make sure nobody takes the piss, but if Cech can wear a headguard and Davids can wear goggles, then why not? I can think of a far more controversial aspect of the Sikh faith (with regards to football), to be honest. Not sure how they get around the Kirpan aspect. A symbolic representation, perhaps? The Kara might even be problematic.
Jason Lee...good point!... I think we're on the fringe of a debate, a parting shot could have a new context, or it could blowdry over!
I'll be honest, I clicked on the link hoping to see a comments page filled with indignant rednecks spontaniously combust with the sheer might of their rage...
I guess that everyone will now be pulling out of Afghanistan now that the taliban have given up on fundementalist islam in favour of Sikhism
I'm more worried about Dharma FC from South Vietnam, given their habit of self immolating when the ref doesn't give them a penalty...
It Sikhens me to think such a madcap idea is allowed 'Keepers, and therefore presumably all players, can wear baseball caps so I don't see why it would be banned or even debated unless Dick Dastardly created an oversized one with a boot that comes out like a cockoo clock and hoofs the ball in the net when a cross comes in.
Twas Zilly and Clunk who did the 'creations'...I'm intrigued what this clock of yours looks like...I dread to think tbh! I do a good impression of Clunk as it goes, not on here though!
They tend to be defensive, very good at the offside trap. If they play to their strengths they usually blow other teams away.
