Innocent until proven guilty?? Maybe not this time eh:

Sunderland have suspended defender Titus Bramble, who was arrested earlier this week on suspicion of sex and drugs offences.

Bramble, 30, was detained by Cleveland police early on Wednesday and questioned over an alleged sexual assault and possession of a Class A drug. He was later released on police bail.

A club statement confirmed the suspension, pending the outcome of an internal investigation by Stadium of Light chiefs.

"Sunderland AFC has confirmed that Titus Bramble has been suspended from duties, pending the outcome of a club investigation.

"The player will not attend team training or be available for selection for matches during this period. The club is unable to make any further comment."

Sunderland host fellow strugglers West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League at the weekend looking to improve on a run of just one victory in seven games this season.

Michael Turner is expected to replace former Wigan and Newcastle centre-back Bramble, who has made three league starts this season after overcoming a knee problem.

Call Louis Laing, we need a Superman.

I think Titus is finished. Remember Quinn came out in support of him last time, this looks ominous.

I still object to this, Innocent until proven guilty, shout, Titus is guilty and that cant be denied.

Oh I agree he may or may not be guilty of the charges the police make but he is very guilty of allowing himself, again, to get into a position where he drags the name of our club through the mud.

Sounds guilty to me and if that is the case they should sue him for loss of a possible transfer fee. We are now short defenders and strikers
We do however have planty of midfielders so anyone any ideas on how to play them

    How about this lol

    -----------------Gardner---------------

    Catts-------O'shea------Elmo-----Colbeck

    Meylor-----Vaughan-----Cook-------Mclean

    --------------Larrson---Sess--------------

The charges last time were more against his brother (who, btw, is appealing, and his lawyers are saying lack of evidence, his word against the girls etc etc), so Quinn backed him.

This time the charges include Class A drugs, which I think is the killer this time (easy to prove) - I bet Quinn and Bruce ordered a direct blood test from the police or as soon as he got bailed. If the test is positive, then this is where the club investigation comes from and the suspension as well. Even if he wasnt in possession of them, and was just taking them this is enough reason for Quinn and Bruce to suspend him.

I agree that due to the seriousness of the situation he should not play until it is resolved...Then if proven guilty, should not play again for the club..

I do think this is the right move by the club. He should not be involved in team affairs while this is hanging over him. I know about the innocent until proven guilty thing...but he is in the frame for some heavy duty stuff here..playing professional football infront of 40,000 fans is not the place be when you have answer charges like these.

I don't think that would really be an option as you only paid 1 million for him, and you naturally assume that value deteriorates over time. A court case against him could end up costing nearly as much as you sue him for, and would take the focus of the footy, not what you want.

I would back coke ridden (allegedly) Bramble to pass a ball better than Turner at the mo! Get the young lad Laing involved. From what I've seen, he seems like a good competitor with a bit of bottle.

    I'd go with

    Laing---------------O Shea--------------Brown----------Richardson

    Larsson----------Vaughan--------Colbeck--------------Sess---------

If the club have suspended him it wont be before either talkingto the player to ask him of the guilt or not.

Last time the stupid fool hit the front pages, when along with his now criminally convicted brother he was involved in a rather seedy and sordid affair, the club spoke to him and stood by him. They were adamant he was not guilty of anything. As it turned out, he was proven innocent. To have acted so quickly this time in suspending him, it would suggest to me the club are very sure about his involvement on either one, or both counts this time.

Either way, he has played his last game for SAFC imo and at least we are saving his wages each week now.

Pretty sure he will be suspended with pay, so we are not saving anything (I may be wrong mind but sure thats how it works, he just cant take part in training or matches)

I think that a percentage of his wages will be be based on games played and win/points bonuses, so we will be saving something.

Aside from the serious sexual assault charge & posession of Class A drugs found today on Titus Bramble police would also like to question him about his whereaboutson Monday evening between 8 & 10 pm.

The club took the only course open to them, looks like the Jan window looms for Titus, shame as Sir Bobby Robson had a lot of faith in the lad.
