But would or should SB play him or even pick him for the squad. TITUS Bramble is back in training after a swingeing club fine for bringing the game into disrepute and will be available for selection for Sunderlandâs next match, at home to Fulham on Saturday, November 19. The 30-year-old was suspended from training in September after being arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and possession of a Class A drug after going night-clubbing the day after Sunderlandâs worst performance of the season, the 2-1 defeat to Norwich City at Carrow Road. But he has now been suspended for six weeks â the maximum allowed under UK employment law â meaning the club could not longer keep him away from his place of work. Bramble has kept himself in good shape during his suspension and will be available to play when Sunderland return to league action after the international break. It remains to be seen however whether Steve Bruce will select him, the manager being appalled at the trouble the defender has found himself in. Bramble has now been charged with two counts of sexual assault and urinating in a public place â the drugs charge dropped. A Sunderland statement said: âTitus has been fined and given the maximum sanction permitted for bringing the clubâs name into disrepute. âThe club can confirm he has tested negative for all banned substances, as he has done in all previous drug tests carried out throughout his career
if match fit he should be in the match day squad but not sure about the starting line up Turner and Brown are doing ok at the minute still think we need a really good fast ball playing centre half next to Brown after the departures of Mensah, Onuoha and Ferdinand in the summer
Bench just in case, reason being starting to think he might be innocent of the sexual assault charges hence charging him with pissing in public.
It looks asthough we are going to be forced to putting him back in the squad because somebody somewhere chose to sell Ferdinand.
Well the last time I checked, in this country you are innocent till proven guilty. So let's wait & see what the outcome is at the court case.
very unfair, we all called for Anton to be sold for months if not years, timing looked bad yes but how we can use it to beat Bruce with, unfair
I never called for Ferdinand to be sold... I always thought that having a player of his calibre who can play right accross the back and is also prepaired to sit on the bench and wait for his opportunity without moaning to the media and trying to engineer a move away from the club is exactly the type of character we would hope to retain, but thats just how I think. The timing didn't look bad, it was diabolical.
If he is found guilty of sexual assault SAFC should terminate his contract. If found not guilty them give him his last chance anymore ****ing about and he is gone.
Completely agree with you however we all know that a persons mentality can be affected by these types of situations and that is likely to affect his concentration on the pitch, which wasn't perfect to begin with. I also don't like the thought of having to listen to all the inevtible chants that the opposition will singing. Innocent or guilty its likely he will become a pantomime villain... The thought of that just typifies how I feel about the whole Bruce era in general. Its just another embarrassing scenario that we are having to accept. If Bramble is truely innocent then I feel heart sorry for the lad... But that isn't going to change the mentality of an opposing fan when they see him running out in the colours of SAFC... It's just a shyte situation.
Lots of people were calling of Ferdinand to be sold though - he is nowhere near consistent enough. The (the clubs) timing wasnt diabolical nor even bad in selling Ferdinand, but Bramble timing in being a stupid twat was. How could the club know Bramble was going to get in this kind of trouble? Anyway, I think Bramble should be on the bench. he has reportedly being fined 200k, has spent 6 weeks out and that should be enough until the verdict on the assault charges come through (the pissing in public charge is stupid imo - but maybe I have just lived in France for too long... )
I have always thought that Anton was often undeservedly made a scapegoat by some fans, and from the back end of last season leading into this sesaon, I felt he was probably our best defender..I for one was disappointed when he was sold, but feel there was more to his sale then us just wanting rid of him...
The problem with Ferdinand was that he could be excellent for a few games in a row, then completely lose the plot for no reason in the next one. I agree that he was very good in the 1st 4 games of this season, but I was always wondering when he was going to lose it.
This^^^ You cannot always believe the stories the media tell. I reserve judgement until the case. The only thing Titus is guilty of thus far is not being very clever.
I think Anton was sold because he was on 45k a week and wasn't "first 11". Wasn't he also in the final year of his contract. Who knows what clauses etc were in there, if there was a renewal
Funny how the likes of you are what I call "the hindsight men". I didn't see you criticising Bruce the day when Ferdinand was sold, however now that you have seen the outcome, all of a sudden "you knew it was going to happen" and "you knew it was a mistake"
I don't think he should play for Sunderland again, as he has been warned about this before. It is not acceptable.
