http://www.eurosport.com/football/p...n-the-title-favourites_sto5691783/story.shtml According to that report, City are rightly favorites at 9/4 and United are clearly overhyped at 7/2. I guess the love affair with Pep has already started because I really can't understand how they can conclude that City are somehow in far better position based on their signings. Another reasoning behind the lack of love for United is that City apparently signed players with "WOW" factor this summer (this actually made me laugh). And to bring the point home, the author argued that Chelsea are now in better position challenge to City than United even though the reason why we should not be considered favorites according to the article is because we finished outside the Top 4. Yet Chelsea should be considered better team? This next season is surely going to be very interesting with everyone that finishes outside the Top 1 spot with much to lose. One thing is most likely for sure, it won't go according to current odds.
Bollocks - favourites are Arsenal or Spurs as they have stable squads - I reckon the title will go to the one who bottles it the least. This is the first time Pep has had to actually build a team and I think he'll be found wanting - I predict Man Utd to finish above Man City. Really doubt we'll make it to the top 4 - in all seriousness, I would be really happy if we finish in the top half of the table.
Nah - Spurs will do what you did last season and sacrifice the cups to try to win the league. They could do with someone with experience to give the likes of Alli, Kane and Dembele a smack when they start bottling it though.
Let's get real here for a minute... Spurs had zero pressure last year and still bottled it. If I am to predict where they would end up this year, it would be outside of the Top 4. Chelsea and United will be back in Top four at the expense of Leicester and Spurs. The best chance for them to win the league was last year. Not this year! Same goes for Arsenal, especially if they don't get a striker.
To get even more real, they had no chance last year - the closest they ever got to us was 5 points and we finished 11 points ahead of them at the end. The bottling was letting Arsenal overtake them on the last day which was hilarious Next season we won't be there at the top so I can see them winning - or losing the title to Arsenal on the last day which would be even more hilarious
Have to agree with Cy here. I see Manchester teams top 2 - with Jose holding the edge. Conte & Klopp should and would pip Wenger & Poch for top 4.
Let's hope the United curse doesn't strike again. Jose to get his first title of many with United. With the ability to recruit the players at the very top, I cannot any reason why United shouldn't win even in his first season. If he doesn't then questions will be asked.
Agree with most if this (I'm as shocked as anyone!) Although I think Klopp will struggle to get top four with Liverpool looking like only reinvesting money they raise from sales. Seems FSG have gotten bored of subsidising Liverpool and are now looking for the club to finally support itself, which will hamper their efforts to catch richer and bigger rivals.
It is looking like only United are able to spend big from their profits. Most are having to curb their spending (RS, Spurs, Arsenal) or relying heavily on their owners generosity (City, Chelsea). Although in the case of Arsenal, it looks like they (Wenger!) are just mean and looking for that elusive VFM.
you won't be shocked if your remove your rose tinted glasses FSG did the same with Redsox. So no wonder they expect Pool to be self sustainable. However, Klopp is a class act. If he sorts that Pool's defense he can take them into top 4.
Can you really blame them? They run it like a business rather than hobby using oil money. The quiet story here is that oil has been under pressure for a while and is starting to trend downward again. Which may mean that these hobby owners start accounting for how they spend their oil money.
The RS have spent quite a lot this window. They would expect to get into top 4 but realistically we are talking about City chavbus and United getting 3 places. Then it will be 3 for that last place.
Agree with this. Cant see past a top 3 of City, United and Chelsea (though who knows in what order, though for my money I would also go for United if I had to bet on one of them). The last top 4 spot will be contested between Arsenal, Spurs and Pool, imo, possibly Leicester as well.
Leicester's position will depend on Mahrez staying or going. If he goes to Arsenal (who will be negligent if they can't get him) then I see them mor relegation candidates than top 4.
But do you know the full story of what our owners did with the Redsox? They actually said they had similar plans for us when they bought us. I'm not a massive fan of our owners but they are far better than our previous - also got us out of plenty of trouble and took the stadium plans forward. This season I don't see us doing too well, our hope has to be 4th. Far too many new players to hit form at once, but saying that other clubs are doing the same so you never know. Cracking season ahead. Utd and City to fight it out for top spot. Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal fighting for 3rd and 4th.
