not looking promising by all accounts for tiote on monday this could leave us horribly exposed to stoke defensivly considering the hole that blackburn opened up in his absence, personally i'de play santon in his position (bare with me) he has all the qualities of a cdm and has played there befor in italy and would provide stability just as tiote does... i love guthrie but imo he plays a similar game to cabaye to be a succesfull pairing because they both love going foward...
    so line up would be
    krul
    simmo colo saylor raylor
    santoon
    cabaye
    marv benny jonas
    ba
i really think this is one game where pardew needs to go for a 451 of sorts because on the narrow pitch at stoke 4 men in midfeild just wont cut it and just like at qpr we'll get crowded off the ball
a bit abstract i know but i think it would work...

No way Santoon in his position :L

I think we need to play a 5 man midfield

    Marveaux----------Guthrie----------Cabaye------------Jonas

    ---------------------------Ben Arfa--------------------------

We won't find that much width, so let Ben Arfa open them up through the hole. I have faith in Pardew to find the right tactics for this game tho, and with thankfully Lawro predicted us to lose ;)

Nope, Box to box Mid, but apparently he's very capable at DM too. Seen as Tiote's replacement when he's at the ACoN by Pardew.

    Nope, CDM.

Just worried that he will be left out, as he was against Blackburn. Think he'll go with Guthrie and Cabaye again in the centre.

ok then scrap the santon idea then :p maybe play him at rb just not sure how he'd cope with stoke's "raping" tactics

In fairness, Cabaye and Guthrie were our 2 best players against Blackburn

Guthrie or Abeid for me. Be happy with either. Maybe start with Guthrie and bring Abeid on later on

no doubt itll be the case but surly pardew must see it didnt work against blackburn and if it wasnt for two peices of absolute magic the performance would have come under alot of scrutiny

With news about Tiote not looking good, maybe Pards was not taking a risk by playing him?

In fairness, Stoke don't use their centre mids much so it shouldn't be much of a problem if Tiote is out.

99% of the time they go from defence to strikers in one huge hoooooofff!

I'm guessing that if Tiote's out, it'll be Guthrie/Cabaye in the centre again.
It's whether we see Santon or Simpson at RB that is the big question.
