Arsene Wenger is looking to bolster his attacking ranks at Arsenal, with the Daily Mirror reporting that Arsenal are preparing an £8 million bid for no-nonsense Newcastle United midfielder Cheick Tiote.

Wenger has turned his attention to the 28 year-old Ivory Coast international, having also been linked with Real Madrid’s Semi Khedira and Sporting Lisbon’s William Carvalho.

Wenger has been following the 28 year-old’s progress for some time now, with numerous bids having been put forward to Newcastle, only to be rejected.

Though, Newcastle may be willing to listen to offers for their tough-tackling midfielder, who would happily join his former team-mate Mathieu Debuchy at the Emirates if any bid was to be confirmed.

The £8 million bid, should it be successful would be a bargain for Wenger, who could land an experienced midfielder on the cheap and integrate immediately with the first team, rather than forking out £30 million plus on the likes of Semi Khedira or William Carvalho, who may take time to gel in with the team.

Moreover, the arrival of Tiote to the Emirates would bring further competition for midfield places, with the likes of Jack Wilshere, Mikel Arteta, Tomas Rosicky, Mathieu Flamini, Aaron Ramsey and Mesut Ozil set to compete for a starting place in a central and attacking midfield role.

Unlike some of the present midfield incumbents at Arsenal, Tiote would give the Gunners more of a physical dimension , seeing as the Ivorian is known to enjoy a tackle or two, despite picking up regular bookings and is also known to get the most from aerial duels against the strongest of opponents.

The Ivorian’s daring attitude in front of goal, may be one of the reasons why Wenger is a firm admirer, given the fact that the 28 year-old is not shy to try a few pile-drivers from range when given the chance.

In addition, Tiote is equally capable of attracting admirers with his gracefulness in terms of passing, as well as strong willingness to bomb forward with his purposeful dribbling ability, two key attributes which are sure to bear fruit should he complete a move to North London.

Tiote is no where near good enough for Arsenal. He's defensively solid, but he doesn't have the capability of keeping up with their passing play.

 

Locomotive sumfucker have been mentioned as well. Might hike the price up a bit. Got knows why he go there and suffer all kinds of racist abuse though.

Last time I was on here talking about Tiote, most of you lot said he was sehr fantastisch.

Now which is it to be?

 

On his day he is a fantastic destroyer. On other days he is rash in his challenges and dithery in his decision making. On no day is he a sophisticated passer or an attacking/creative midfielder.

 

Tiote is a beautiful assassin, a master of the dark arts, who on his day can rip the beating heart from the opposition leaving the rest of the team to run rings around the opposition (like he did with Rooney and Man United). On no day is Tiote the one running those rings. That's not his job and not who he is.
