Is it true that he has a suspended 7 month jail term for fraudulently using a forged drivers licence?

If so, how is he our captain and what a knob!

Just hope he learns from it, needs to start learning from his mistakes both on and off the field.

If he has received 6 points for that his not guilty plea for driving without insurance he should get another 6 points for that no insurance company would b covering him without a valid driving licence so his insurance would have bin void when he took out his insurance policy so 12 points should b disqualified for totting up of points

Was it Barry Bannan who, without a full driving licence, went out in his car with a mate after drinking heavily, smashed his car on the motorway, legged it from the scene, and got given a fine? <laugh>

That was my favourite football-gone mad story.

No idea what the idiot was thinking of, buying a forged licence for 15,000 euros. Oh wait ... footballers are so precious they can't be seen to be doing something as undignified as walking or taking public transport.

Another example of footballers given preferential treatment in courts.

    Lucky fella...

    http://www.sportsvibe.co.uk/news/football/tiote-narrowly-avoids-prison-sentence-29031/

Newcastle midfielder Cheick Tiote has been given a seven month suspended jail sentence after admitting he had been in possession of a fake drivers licence.

The 27-year-old arrived at court today and left a smiling man after he admitted to buying a fake Belgian driving licence for £12,800 and then trying to swap it for a full UK licence.

According to the Daily Mail, judge Tony Hawks said that Tiote had met a man at Brussels airport and handed over a bag of cash and a photograph of himself.

He then tried to con the DVLA into retrieving a full UK licence.

The Ivory Coast international, who played 90 minutes in the 2-1 defeat away to Sunderland on Sunday, was only sparred a prison sentence but he pleaded guilty to the charges.

Tiote will have to complete 180 hours of unpaid work around Newcastle as well as being fined in the region of £4,000.

Whichever way you look at this it's yet more embarassment at the door of our club.

Makes a mockery of our justice system though, if your rich and famous you get a slapped wrist but the normal man would be starting a jail term now. Wonder how on earth he'll pay the 4k fine though, think a whip round at the match might help?

Don't say things like that, they'll probably start one.

    Agree here.
Fines should surely be in proportion to a persons income.
