Graeme Bailey ‏@SkyGraemeBailey Sky Sports sources understands Sunderland's Michael Turner is undergoing a medical at Norwich City. More on site shortly... THANK THE F*****G LORD! Suppose that means we are getting Collins and Warnock like, but if we get £4 mil for turner, then I think its a good swap
http://www.sunderlandecho.com/sport...rner-as-sunderland-await-brown-news-1-4770621 Norwich eye Turner as Sunderland await Brown news Michael Turner Published on Wednesday 25 July 2012 09:09 NORWICH City have been linked with Sunderland defender Michael Turner as the Black Cats await news on the injury to fellow centre-half Wes Brown. Reports today indicate that new Canaries boss Chris Hughton is ready to make a move for Turner (pictured), who has just 12 months remaining on his contract. The arrival of Bosman signing Carlos Cuellar has left Sunderland well-served in central defence, with the Spaniard joining Turner, Brown, Titus Bramble, Matt Kilgallon and John OâShea, along with youngsters John Egan and Louis Laing. Sunderland were understood to be willing to offload one of Turner, Bramble or Kilgallon, with each of the trio in the final year of their contracts. But manager Martin OâNeill will be hesitant to further deplete his defensive options, if Sunderlandâs worst fears are realised over the injury to ex-England international Brown. The 32-year-old lasted just 35 minutes of Sunderlandâs second and final Peace Cup clash in South Korea on Sunday before limping off with a knee problem. Initial indications suggested that Brown, who missed the final four months of last season through injury, had suffered ligament damage. But Sunderland will not receive a definitive answer on the extent of Brownâs injury until later this week. Brown was among the rest of the squad who landed back in the North East yesterday afternoon, ahead of todayâs return to training at the Academy of Light, but the former Manchester United man will not be able to undergo tests until the swelling on his knee has receded. If Brown has suffered serious damage, then it strengthens the prospect of Turner, Bramble and Kilgallon remaining at the Stadium of Light. Turner is the least likely of the trio to leave, too, after starting the final 20 games of last season â his longest run of consecutive first-team football since arriving at Sunderland three years ago. If Turner goes i can deffo see Collins arriving from Villa.

Just posted the same thing mate did not see your post. If he goes i can see Collins arriving from villa
Hopefully get a decent fee for him. Hopefully its a sign we are trying to move forward abit like when we sold Whitehead
As much as I dislike James Collins, he is a superior player to tina and I think will do better for us Plus if we get £2 mil for turner (reported fee) then £4 mil for Warnock and Collins isnt looking so bad
We have nicked all the decent Championship midfielders now and are now looking to strengthen at the back a bit. You may have noticed the alarming rate at which we conceded goals last season? I think even with this lack of pace he could potentially be just what we need (I hope)
Tina is a very good, no-nonsense defender, very strong in the air, good tackler, and brave as a whole pack of lions. If it's simply a defender you want, he'll be fine, he is absolutely a Premier League defender, I'm sure you won't be offended by me saying we're a few years ahead of you in terms of the clubs development, and we are looking for a little bit more. He'll have my blessing, and a canny applause at the SOL on a return, and he'll do a smashing job for you
Not sure why we would get rid of him, but keep Bramble? especially with Brown having, potentially, a very serious injury. Turner is a good defender and was 1 half of a defensive partnership that conceded one of the lowest amount of goals per game until he got injured. Not sure why people have a go at him. He will be fantastic for Norwich imo.
is it cos nobody wants bramble? thanks for the feedback folks - pretty happy with this bit of business! we needed a no-nonsense centre half to compliment out young, footballing lads. he should be just the ticket
good luck to Turner he will do well I hope to god we go a CB with abit of class about there game as we have not had one for a very long time someone with great pace and distribution who can read the game, Collins would be ok but it would be a like for like with Turner, personally think we should be aiming higher
I think the move would be good for all parties. Turner is a very good championship or a very average premiership (being kind) player at best. A HGV could turn quicker than him and he always drove me crazy giving away needless yellow cards on the halfway line because he tried to pinch the ball and would get caught. If he stays then I'm happy but if he goes I wish him luck.
I wish him luck too. I remember him running back to kick the ball off the line against Everton and knackering himself by slamming into the post. He's a brave, no nonsense defender and will do well for Norwich.
No probs with Turner. Good pro but shouldnt be missed although slightly concerned we are selling defenders whilst we have injury worries at the back.
I am an ITK with Ellis's personal cell phone number (no matter how many times i tell him it's a mobile, that crazy yank wont change), and he tells me we're signing Simon Kjaer, Balzeretti, and Mamadou Sakho at the back. MoN favors Bardo at right back.
