Reading Sir Henry's comments hes made it clear that Frankel won't be stepping back any further than 8 furlongs this coming year. In My opinion the only way Frankel would maybe lose to Black Caviar is if he raced her over 5 or 6 furlongs which hes never done in his entire career to date, It'd be intresting if he had done because the way he attacked the first 4 furlongs of the Rowley Mile in the Guineas stood him out as a horse with enough speed to win at 5 or 6 furlongs. 7 furlongs and espcially 8 furlongs I would be firmly in Frankels corner, But its a shame it probably won't ever happen... In Frankel we are talking about an horse that could sweep up all the major Mile and quarter races next year and some of the mile races. Lockinge Queen Anne/Prince of Wales Juddmonte International Champion Stakes Breeders Cup Dubai World Cup Winning these sort of races I imagine is far more important than racing a phenomenal sprinter in Black Caviar even though the amount of attention it would recieve would be unlike anything We've seen before. Maybe the BHA could get a 7.5 furlong race together for the pair or the authorities in Dubai could get a race together for a $5 million dollar purse for both parties to swoon over. Im sure that would get tails wagging its not like Prince Khalid Abdullah needs the money though like I said Im sure Frankels stud value and career at stud is far more important
If they ever race and it's at Frankel's distance, it will revive bitter memories of Arkle's connections only being prepared to take on Dunkirk (an out and out 2 miler) over 3 miles. It's like Bolt having to take on the top 1500 metres runner, over 1500 metres. Personally it's not something I would want to see. If the pair ever meet I think it would only be fair to race twice (once over each horse's best distance). It won't happen.
