Ok, so now the process of selecting a new manager begins - actually it feels quite exciting. Because things have been so dire, and most of us have wanted change for some time, it feels like the beginning of something. However, whoever comes in is going to need time to sort this out - there's not going to be a magic wand to be waved here. The most sucessful recent manager was Gary Johnson - it took him a few months to sort things out - remember the 10 game run of defeats?? We do have some good players, but the squad is not balanced (e.g no leaders, no creativity, etc), and needs an overhaul. This is not just Millen's fault - it started under GJ, and was certainly not helped by the Coppell farce. So please whoever we go for - give the bloke some time!!!
Yes I agree. the new man in charge will need time......that is why it is so important that the board brings in the right man for the job. The worst thing possible, is if this club gets relegated, this can not be allowed to happen. Reasons; It could be years before we will get back in the championship, Crowds will dramatically fall, No NEW stadium, Investors and good sponsors will not be interested, SL will probably cut his ties with us, The gap between us and the bigger clubs will become wider. It could be a financial disaster..... So for those reasons the new manager needs to get results sooner rather than later. IMO Keef should have gone months ago.....
If we have a 10 game run of defeats we will be relegated -- simple as that! The next 6 months are probably going to be the most important in this clubs history.
It is really exciting, the name that are flying around are great for our club, but its whether we want to go up. Quite simple really, if we want to go up you have to spend money ( ok a few teams have gone up on little budget ) but what i mean is a manager, i think if we got O' Neil, it would literally be a matter of 2 seasons before were in the prem, Dave jones i think about 3 seasons, i think the best outcome foe the club is 2011/2012 Season 12th-18th 2012/2013 Season 4th-10th 2013/2014 Season Top 6 (promotion) 2014/2015 Season, new ground that we fill, 10th-17th finish prem and build on
ending the season fourth bottom on goal difference will do me this season now, then give the new guy some cash and some time to challenge once more at the right end of the table!
The only thing that matters right now is survival in the Championship and that's all Millen had to achieve as well to keep the boat steady. After that can come the cull of deadwood, and expensive misfits like Sexstone.....
