This season is all about timing and we have messed it up. I admire Wenger for his determination in trying to hold on to Fabregas and Nasri but he should have seen the signs and sold them last month we would have got the same amount of money as we would know. And it would have given him the time to negotiate and bring the players WE NEED. The uncertainty and lack of reinforcement has already cost us and will only continue to cost us. I do believe we have enough to deal with Udinese and the suspensions will not effect us in the Champions league. But i really fear for the UTD game on the weekend. This next week is crucial not only due to the games we have, but more importantly in the players we need to bring in. Out Nasri - 25mn In Hazard 25mn Cahil - 17mn Baines - 15mn Parker - 8mn Mata 25mn We will have 30mn for Fab by oct 25mn for nasri plus 12mn for cli/ebo plus 30 mn on top for start of season transfer funds plus saved wages meaning we can afford those changes. But There also needs to be a readdressing of our playing style especially defensively - the full backs are always out of position playing too far up field and get caught out too often, especially as none of them can cross and no one is in the box to head. Also when they push up, unlike Barcelona, our dmf's don't sit back but try to get up to score which leaves us exposed. The offensive side also needs a change which Wenger seems to have noticed by the fact our attacks in the last few games have been based on pace rather than steady patient passing play, this could also be and automatic adjustment to losing Fabregas. A lot of things need to happen especially in the next few weeks. Or i fear our season could be over by 1st September. In Wenger we really want to continue trust, but this season will throw up a lot of questions and hopefully as many if not more answers. If not.....................................
Seems a bit football managerish to me. Baines will definitely cost more than 15 million and I think the same about Hazard too.
Yes maybe a little FMish in listing players to buy with only a few weeks left. But its Wengers defiance in selling Nasri and Fab so late that has led to this situation. IF he had bought a df last month sold Fab and Nasri last month and bought replacements then we wouldn't be facing this issue. But as it is he has 10-11 days and a lot of gaps to fill, which has arisen from too much shortsightedness. But in terms of finance we had 30-40 mn roughly to spend at the start of the season since then he has brought in Ger/OX/Jenk - roughly 20-22mn depending how much was paid upfront. Leaving 10-20mn roughly add 30mn for Fab (i know 15 now and 15 in oct) Nasri (if he goes) - 25mn clichy 7mn eboue 4mn. Gives you 60mn more. Total to spend - 70-80mn, on top of which we save 20mn in wages which will be eaten up by new arrivals. Leaves enough to get 4-5 layers. I am not saying he will do this, not much chance at all, but i am saying he should do this make a statement/show some intent. Important to note those are the players I want but not gonna complain if we get Marin/Vidal or someone along those lines. We do need new blood along with new tactics, something HAS to change.
If we buy them players where will they fit?! Hazard 25mn Mata 25mn That's 50 million on wingers, both left wingers i believe, on the wings we already have Arshavin, Walcott, Gervinho, Ryo, Oxo etc etc including about 26 million pounds worth of players bought this season And if your thinking of playing 1/both of them in the middle, why not save abit of money, give nasri the extra wages and keep him an play him in the middle?, or use Arshavin, ramsey etc Cahil - 17mn Who will he replace?, is he really that much better than Koschielny, djourou, or vermalean? and especially for that price etc he won't sit on the bench, i'd prefer someone like Dann who would sit on the bench and alot cheaper, personal wise i think our defenders are good enough/better than them mentioned it's just our system which according to players has been changed, and we've been reasonably solid so far this season (bar 2 dodgy offside goals) Baines - 15mn I'd like a new Left back, but is baines really worth 15 million quid?! and will he fit in with our kind of style?! but definatly an area we need someone, i'd go for someone older who would sit on the bench, but can still do a good job when gibbs inevitably gets injured 9 times a season and add experience Parker - 8mn i wouldn't complain, put him next to song and push wilshere further up the pitch but if you add in all these players our team would be (considering they'd all probably be 1st teamers for the prices etc) -------Sznkeznky sagna--Cahill---TV----Baines -----Song----Parker Gervinho---Mata----Hazard ---------RVP But then what about Wilshere? Walcott? Arshavin? Ramsey? etc etc etc
@MrWright - That is the whole point in having a squad, not just 11 good players and hope no one gets injured. The team you have put out is one i would agree with maybe swap wilshere for song and gervinho for Arsh. If Fab and Nasri had stayed do you think Arshavin/Theo/Ramsey would have got tons of games???? Hazard and Mata are direct replacements (not the same type of players but finding someone to replace Fabregas is immpossible) Wenger already said he was looking at CB, gibbs is never fit to miss out and i dont rate Traore. The only one who would potentially miss out is Wilshere but frankly i think with injuries and ability plus AOCN he will be more useful than Song. See this is the argument that made us lose out on Alonso because it would kill Denilson. While I am all for getting in youngsters, we need a solid core or experienced players who are used to winning and bring in 2-3 youngsters every year into the squad. Not what we seem to be doing this season which is sell everyone and hope the kids can manage 50 games. Miyachi/oxo/theo (less so)/lansbury/frimpong/afobe are all talented youngsters 2-3 of which will eventually settle into the first 11 but doesn;t mean we should rely on them for 30-40 games a season already. Player like Messi/ronaldo/wilshere (in the sense that they were good enough to perform at 17/18) are very rare not the norm. And on the issues of replacements Mata is as good if not better than Nasri (nasri has said this isn't a money issue, plus i think he is kack in the middle) , Hazard can potentially be a world great, Baines was comfortably the best LB in the league last season (and i think a LB who can defend AND CROSS will suit us fine). I rate Kos and Djou but both are error prone and injury prone and i believe Cahill is as good if not better. The only one who could be contentious is Parker but frankly I would like a bit more steel in our mf especially against the bigger teams plus he shoots from mf. Would like to stress that i think even with signings Wenger does need to re-assess our tactics because we do look a bit headless at times. I want Wenger in charge and I want him to be the one to turn things around but something drastic has to be done in the next 10-11 days. I wish whatever he was going to do he would have done last month and IF he is going to do nothing, just say it stop stringing us along with claims like I will spend 40 mn pounds on a player if it is the right deal.
Goalkeeper. 2xCentre Halves 1xLeft Back 1xDCM 1xACM 1xLM 1xStriker All needed if you are to compete at the top again anytime soon. And Wenger should have addressed the issues earlier, regardless of Fabregas/Nasri Like two years earlier!
Why do you keep coming on the arsenal board you arrogant piece of ****. You have nothing worthwhile to say.
Every comment I make is miles ahead of all of your biased garbage you all come out with. Mata is coming to us boyo
That's why we're all here and on several of the threads started since yesterday afternoon Mr Ballacks You are welcome here. Some of us may need a punchbag from time to time Only j/k. The welcome though is meant
