When I first moved to Bristol at the end of the 50's For some reason BCFC was the team I adopted. And a lot has changed, the UK has become the primary school and some cases higher education equvalent for the rest of the world's better footballers..............and our national team suffers.

How many foreign players or players made up from other parts of the Uk were in those early 60's / 70's games? The teams were mainly homegrown, and the better talented after a couple of seasons would then move on for massive fee's of a thosand or 2 to the next division up, to be replaced by the next up and coming youngster. I think Burnley in this period were in the first division for a long time ( premiership now ) and had gates of half of what others had and each season would balance the books with a sale !

Players nearing the end of their careers often had a season or 2 in a lower division and went on to become part of the "management structure" etc etc etc

We are now cursed with a gigantuan mass of injuries which can easily become a worrying point for those that are not......." am I next" scenario.

We have a relatively good reserve team, the odd player having made the odd cameo appearance in the first team...is it now time for a bit of roll reversal....

We have 5 strikers, none brilliant but all good for the Championship at the moment and room to improve...... play 2 have 2 subs

We have a midfield which I think is treated like a bit of a mess put their numbers on a straw and see who plays this week....... play 4 have 2 subs
I think we should establish its purpose, awkward to put into words but basically an attacking midfield (or a defensive mid field), start with a choice of Adomah/ Woolford/Anderson on the wings and Pearson and Marv, more defensively I would put Kilkenny and Morris subs

sigh.....OMG ......Defence what an ignomer, have to play 4 with 2 subs
30% plus of our defence OUT and in the main the backbone of it......I am not even going to go there as to who .......

However how many of the squad of 29/30 are homegrown, through the ranks players... I ponder......is it better to have played 15 for 11 and used a team comprising 4 or 5 of our youngsters who have the chance to bloom, or played 15 for 11 with a team of players who have done it a different way and try to fit in! no disrepect as they mostly all do a good job.

TIME TO ROLL OUT THE YOUTH................COYR COYRedddddddddddzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Says it all really, expect a bit of "wrong end of a sharp stick in the eye initially" then it all may come good!
