Tiote has now been booked for the 31st time in only 61 matches resulting in him missing yet another match through suspension. When you consider he was under suspension already in the PL he will now miss Euro match and in my opinion is becoming too much of a liability. The latest booking being totally stupid ( as are quite a few of his ) and it's patently obvious he can't change his mindset meaning he will lose even more matches before the season ends.
Is it now time to cash in on him?

Hopefully we'll sign Sissoko and then whether Tiote stays, goes, or gets suspended will be moot.

Fellaini is awesome but figures of 15m + are being bandied around for him. We'll never pay that much, when we have other DM cover. I bet Anita will fill his role eventually, once he gets up to speed.

Not us Fred... Anyone who wants Tiote should go for Fellaini, FELLAINI instead. That means I guess Cheick will have to just, I dunno, stay with us? Oh well...

I wish Tiote would just exercise a little more (a lot more really) self discipline, he gets himself needlessly trouble, such a shame as we're potentially a better team with him in it.

Cheick's customary yellow each game is a an absolute gimme to your section's resident comic when the game's piss-poor to watch...

If we didn't have him, said comic would have to revert to naming the sci-fi films Obertan's too ugly to play the alien in...

Totally agree with this. They should go for Fellaini anyday before Tiote. We'll just have to put up with Tiote ourselves I guess.

    This <ok>

I want Tiote in our team (better to have him on our side than have him playing against us  ) but I do find myself thinking that if we sold him I wouldn't feel quite as distraught as I might once have done.

Although I still would be distraught :emoticon-0106-cryin

I thought Tiote had a good game tonight, but as the OP suggests he's no good to anyone if he's never on the pitch. I wouldn't sell him yet, however he has a big point to prove for the remainder of this season. If he fails to do so (whether through injuries, suspensions or lack of form) then I'd be tempted to sell in the summer while his stock is still relatively high.

I quite agree with this post.

From feeling like it would be the end of the world if he left in the summer, I am now more and more swaying towards cashing in on him. He has had a poor season so far, and as you say he's now suspended for the next European game.

The one thing I do think he does is allow Cabaye the freedom to get forward more, and he makes the CBs more comfortable. But he needlessly gives the ball away and is for some reason in the habit of dithering around with it in very awkward positions.

Having said that, when he's on his game he's among the best around breaking up play. I'd much rather see him improve his game and reduce the amount of bookings. He needs to play it simpler as well. Bigi seems to be better at picking the right pass than Tiote at the minute.

His form is off. Tiote is a world class defensive midfielder, and there aren't many of them. Sell him to Chelsea or ManU, which is still likely to happen and we'll be regretting it for years. I have a bad feeling we'll let him go for 7-8 mio to either Arsenal ManU or Chelsea soon.

The best games we played last season was because Tiote was on song bossing everything and everyone. ManU, Liverpool at home? Chelsea away?

Agree that the best games we played last season were with him at his best, especially Man U - his best performance for us full stop I think.

I can't see us flogging him for less than £15m which I think will be about the price he goes for. As you say defensive midfielders are hard to come by of a high quality.

I think it's only fair to point out that Cheick has missed more games for us due to ACoN than suspensions...

I have no idea if that's true at all... I made it up, although it sounds about right... I just wanted to have one of those moments were you wade in, hit them with some life-changing knowledge, then walk out...

I can't tell if I agree with you guys and don't want to face the truth, or completely disagree and want to lash out like a 13 year old girl on Myspace... I feel like that constantly irked brown haired emo choosing between the hairy dog-boy and the ugly "British" fanged-chap (see, I could totally be a teenage girl). The part that's winning out, though, is helped by the fact that I always saw Cheick's yellows as part of his combative and committed approach, something I'd never want to change in his game because I think he'd be less effective. Fanged chap it is, then!

Whilst I agree when he's on form it normally results in us playing our best stuff, last season his form was patchy at best and it's been the same so far this season. I could argue that although he played a big part in us winning the games you've mentioned above, that this season he's cost us 2 points vs Sunderland and potentially 2 more against Liverpool due to us not being able to field our strongest team.

Red cards are part of the game, I can handle him picking up the odd red as it's going to happen when you play his type of game, it's the stupid bookings that I can't forgive. It's absolutely pathetic that he averages a yellow card every other game and would indicate he's not learning from his mistakes.

    But!!!!

A lot of his yellows are doing the "dirty work" for the team, they are called professional fouls and part of the game tactically! I know he sometimes gets the odd one which is absolutely wasteful, but he's such a good player he's been carded after the first few minutes numerous times and never been sent off. When he was sent off it's been very debatable indeed, and not for two yellows you'll note!!!

His control is way better than people give him credit for, especially the ones looking at only certain stats <ok>
