Our defence was not too bad last night, but conceded a goal because individual mistake.

 

Only 2 mistakes. Robertson assist and Trent playing Lacazette and his mum onside.

 

Still need another CB imo. Not because what we have isn’t good enough....it clearly is. But because we will have injuries...we already do. Matip is out now leaving us with 2 CB’s and Fab. That’s not enough in a season where games are thick and fast and Covid could strike at any time.

 

TBF, that could still happen if we had a thousand CBs

 

I think we will wait until next year to sign Ben White (if he continues to impress).

 

perhaps but it won’t help us this year. I think that we’ll regret not buying a CB. I think that the fact that the transfer windows are relatively close together are making Klopp/FSG take a risk with this position. If we are good in January for CB’s we’ll continue for the rest of the season as is.

 

A fourth CB would be ideal (Fabinho?) but Gomez and Matip partnered VVD for the majority of lost season anyway, Lovren hardly got a game. Just need a bit of luck with injuries; bit like with the attack last year, didn't you think we'd regret bit getting another attacker last summer too?

 

Lovren played around 15 games last season which is a big number for a 4th choice centre back. Not sure I would want Fabinho to play 15 games there ...

 

Would you rather Lovren or Fabinho at CB for those fifteen games?

 

Majority of those would have been cameo appearances when we're closing out a game. Some would have been Cup matches too

 

He played around 1200 minutes which equates to around 13 full games, and then would have come off the bench in the other 2 appearances.

 

Ten appearances in PL, one in each domestic cup and three in Europe. Didn't think he'd played that much but it'd still rather have Fabinho over Lovren.

Buying another CB would obviously be the best option.

 

Depends on which one and for how much.

 

Ha agree that I rather have Fab over Lovren. But it's a lot of minutes for Fabinho to be out of the midfield for.

I agree, I would prefer to bring in a CB (maybe a cheaper and experienced one like Klavan or Caulker) and then we go big next year?

 

We won't go for a temporary compromise. If the right player isn't available then we won't sign anyone
