We sit 5 points outside top six,we as fans know where the problems are.
We have a excellent chance if these two positions could be addressed.
Kory Smith will be like a new signing when he returns. However that is going to be too late for this season.
But we need a striker sooner rather than later that really could propel us up the league.
SL wants a top six position, invest and that dream could become a reality.
Does he stick or twist that is the question.

I'd rather it was no investment at this time if the players out there are not right for the club..Not sure if I'm a fan of the January sales, much prefer the summer.
Maybe a loan, option/s would be better for now, maybe with a permanent in mind...I see it as just a bit of help with no risk...

January has to be the worst transfer market because more prolific spending teams will blow the budget on players not worth the senseless money being asked. I have always thought that we have been backward in our market spending but am starting to realize that common sense is the best policy and I'm sure discussions have been held by our brass as to where and what is in our sights to improve the team.

    Rock on boys.

I agree with this - with exceptions, the only players that may represent good value are those whose contract expires in the summer & their club wants to get something rather than nothing.

I think we will be active, but am not expecting much.

That would take smart dealings on our behalf, but you're right.

it is a bit like the chicken and the egg!
a player on the fringe has to make a decision.. how good exactly am I, agent is always going to say you are better than you are to try and sell you on .... but he has to decide.....
.... the team I am playing for ( and I am above average) is going backward and it is better I go for a team at least as good as this one was .... or ...
...I am pretty much a good average player but my team is excelling and I am unlikely to feature if we go to the next step ... so cash in now as I look good!
I am in the wrong division and could really do with trying my arm up a division [ or even down a division] ... but of course this depends on the buying team believing you can step up.... this is probably a low low percentage of those actually making it ....

My personal opinion is it will be loan players if we do any business, I think the summer is for buying, so loan a couple in, loan a couple out, i'd like to know if you have any quality players in mind a bit like your top striker MT but someone with a few more goals in them.

Other clubs have gone in for Defoe so I was hearing on the radio....someone like him till end of season would have been nice, would have shown some of our academy players how to do it!!

Good point Tom , last season didn’t work well with loans , perhaps it’ll make them think twice before going down the same route this , can’t see permanent deals either.

We have Mo who’s yet to get a chance , pointless to buy players unless they improve on what we already have. Unless we bring in ones that can improve us immediately I would rather we didn’t bother.

I still stand by what I said about the two players. Kent is a talent but was always going to be a loser for us because of his attitude. Thankfully for him, he seems to have been grounded a bit at Rangers.

Diony was a good player. There were glimpses of it. But something clearly happened, he probably wasn't right mentally, and his form wasn't great at the exact same time our form started going down the pan. Although I'm seemingly the only one who thought this!

sometimes a striker needs a good bedding in process before suddenly coming alive! especially when they move a few hundreds of miles from family.
Fammy seems to have gotten himself sorted now is a dad, has house etc etc ...just hope the little rascal sleeps well at night!

You should know by now, if a new striker don’t score by halftime on debut they are ****e, and deserves to get roasted on social media :emoticon-0136-giggl

With the clubs that are rumoured to be interested I'm not so sure. Plenty of Prem interest in there.

He's not interested how much we pay for him, it's how much we pay him that counts, not enough I would guess.
