The players and board need to front up to the fans and explain what the hell happened this season. I will be interested to see what's written in the programme for the arsenal game as there should be some honesty in there about what has gone on this season and the crap we have had to endure as fans. I want to hear it, I want to know how it has come to this and I am bloody angry. So come on RVW, Bassong, Martin and co let's hear it, because frankly this season hardly none of you have been fit to wear the shirt. I want to hear some apologies from them and McNally as it's been a total balls up from start to finish.
I think McNally has always been upfront and he's explained his position well as always on the whole managerial thing. The players are not going to say anything other than the usual. I don't see why they need to explain anything, we've all seen it, none of them will bad mouth the former boss publicly. I don't think its really been a case of fit to where the shirt, the effort has been there, for me, the big reason was the manager.
The program will have gone to print well before tonight's game I'm afraid so don't expect to much. I think you'll see DM coming out with an open letter in the EDP more like, & it's probably going to be more of a battle cry for next season rather than explaining why he took so long to sack the plonker. I can see the "I'd rather die than get relegated" comment coming out a lot in the next few days?
If it was not for David McNally we would not even have a club now So what we are in the CCC we will still see football and I for one never think about the clubs profit levels Oh and the world is still going round! OTBC. City til I die !
Why the need for a huge inquest and finger pointing exercise? I can do it for you; We just weren't good enough, didn't score enough goals, we had the lowest conversion rate from our chances of all 20 teams, our big money signings didn't find their feet in this division and fell massively short of everyone's expectations (apart from those of a certain Cove if I remember correctly), last season's player of the year had an absolute stinker, we had injuries to key players at bad times, we conceded some absolutely stunning goals by world class players, we conceded too many incredibly soft goals from individual errors, we came up against keepers having the games of their lives, we missed the one penalty we were awarded all season (thanks in part to the wrong player taking the kick), too many marginal decisions went against us and too often we ended up on the wrong side of those fine margins that I keep going on about. Or you could just blame it solely on the CEO and previous manager if you like.
No point raking over the past - it won't achieve anything. Hard not to, I know, because the relegation just feels so unnecessary. But the important thing now is who the board will appoint as the next manager.
Just a thought. Had van Wolfswinkel taken and scored that penalty would we be anywhere near where we are today?
I guess we'll never know, but had he ended up scoring the winning goal in that game it certainly wouldn't have done his confidence (that he still had some of at that point) any harm.
Technically it wasn't our only penalty of the season, Hooper scored one versus West Ham at home. Still, it was a big moment surprisingly early in our season.
Exactly. It might not have just been those three points at stake. Pointless getting dragged down in ifs, buts and maybes though.
