OK - five games into the season and we are not in as good a position as we would have liked - but:

All this negativity is doing my head in. Fans have been turning on each other and on players right from pre-season. There is such a negative vibe to this forum.

The close season has seen us bring in a number of players of a class previously unimaginable at Carrow Rd. It's going to take time for the manager and squad to adapt to their style of play and vice-versa.

Yesterday was a vast improvement on previous offerings so far this season. The Mutts Nutts got some service and chances (OK - not as many as he/we would have liked). Snoddy was only guilty of one thing yesterday - he was visibly desperate to make amends for his previous performances and the penalty by playing his heart and soul out.

So - what sort of players do we want? Players who don't give a s**t, do little but get to right and just turn up because its their job or players that will give their utmost and not always get it right or have things go their way? It's not that long ago that most of our squad fell into the former category and I would say that now most are definitely in the latter category. Whilst you have this situation, and players care, then there is always a chance. Motivated players want to succeed, will work on constant improvement and will play their hearts out.

Lets get behind the manager and team - after all, we all want the same thing and when they do finally click, they are going to be a force to reckoned with.

(BTW - I do think Redmond needs to work on his teamplay. Best used as a sub to terrify tired defences for the time being - Lets give Pilks his chance).

completely agree with you but it'll fall on a few deaf ears. we've got the makings of a good side. there are areas of strength and areas of weakness but we are far from the disaster zone some make us out to be <ok>

"All this negativity is doing my head in. Fans have been turning on each other and on players right from pre-season. There is such a negative vibe to this forum."

But ask yourself why. Why has there been this negative vibe, even since pre-season?

Possibility one is that this forum is peopled by a load of whingers who secretly enjoy failure and who get a kind of masturbatory pleasure out of their team doing badly.

Possibility two is that there is something fundamentally wrong with the performances of both individual players and the team as a whole.

For me, possibility two seems much more likely than possibility one.

you're right in a way, but equally if we win or play well, there is still a distinct air of negativity about it. "we could have played better or we were lucky or we were too defensive or whatever..." i can't remember the last time everyone was happy with a result and performance, even though there have been plenty of good results and performances in hughton's reign. some fans have made their mind up about him and that's that - he now can't win in their eyes

But really our performance yesterday would get us a win 9 times out of 10. Only because some people can't get over Lambert leaving us mean that it is taken out of context and people turn on our players and managers.

Some people need to get a grip.

In a way, I think your final comment is right, and, as you imply, not necessarily for sound reasons. But that's the way it goes - I personally think he is toast. The key decision is who comes next.

I don't think Hughton is toast. I think he will sort out this mess and never look back.

Casting my mind back to the opening day of the season, I don't recall any negativity at all. It was all positive.

this has always been my problem with the way he is being treated. there are no major reasons why he should be under the kind of pressure some people are attempting to put him under. there are problems that need addressing, some sooner rather than later. he could be doing better, sure, but he's getting a lot right too. do we want to scrap a capable manager just because some fans aren't enjoying it? where do we go after that? it seems incredibly naive to me and always has done but there's no denying, saturday saw the first shift in the way some of the fans vocally showed their displeasure (quite wrongly by the way - he made completely the right decision) but its always hard for any manager to get fans back on side when they make their minds up that they don't like what they see. it was very upsetting to be honest and when it happened, there were many murmurs around me suggesting those fans had ****ed us up right there. of course, that's not technically true, the players still had half an hour to get a result but do they want to play in an atmosphere like that? i know everyone around me felt the same way because the manager was wrongly being undermined by a group of maybe 500 in the snakepit. they really didn't cover themselves in glory on saturday - in fact, quite the opposite - they showed they know little about what they were watching. they may have their concerns and they may be heartfelt but they behaved awfully yesterday.

Agree with this. Looking at the games we have coming up i cant see us being on any more than 7 points out of 10 games. I think he is done, we have had ex players slating his style of football and players in the team coming out questioning our play. The next manager will have good players to work with and if given time should steer us to a mid table finish. I think Hughton has lost the dressing room and if you look at the results over his time its the 10 game run that is actually the blip in our form, Take that out and the results have been consistently poor and the less said about the Luton game the better, alarm bells should have been ringing for everyone after that.

Yes, in a way it's not fair, and he has done what he was employed to do (keep us in the Prem). But on another level, perhaps, the fans are genuinely picking up on weaknesses in his approach, weaknesses that perhaps can never be addressed.

Why do I think he's toast? Look at the Stoke game. Everything suggests to me that CH's instinct will be to try to shut up shop, get a draw, or sneak a win. But if he does that, and we lose by the odd goal as we seem to do in so many dreary away games, he knows he will be crucified. So he doesn't go with his instinct, he sends out a team with two forwards or whatever. But deep down his heart isn't in it and he's going against himself, so the players are confused and they don't perform.

In other words, he's damned if he does and he's damned if he doesn't. This is why I think it's got to the stage where he is history and the key decision is who comes next.

Of course, a win at Stoke and then an unlikely home win against Chelsea and I look like an idiot. Seems extremely unlikely, though.

I suppose what I was trying to say is that there is plenty left in the tank. If the players were already firing on all cylinders and we were playing badly, then yes, I would be worried. But, we ain't seen nothing yet.

chelsea lost 2 in a week last week, mourinho finally lost at home. Doesn't make mourinho a bad manager or chelsea a bad team. Lets all be positive and hope we demolish stoke next week

Chelsea are currently top of the table though lol.

I'm still feeling a bit disheartened and deflated after yesterday and I've always been in the pro positive camp.

Although I don't think we played badly, just missing 2 really good chances (I know we had more, but you think if only we scored that penalty and RVW took his chance better) and that sloppy goal is the most disappointing thing.

With 3 tough games coming up, not really confident getting anything from them.

I'm not in the get Hughton out wagon yet, but I've just read Sunderland have Di Matteo waiting if they sack Canio.

Would we be happy if we went with Metteo?

I still like to believe CH will get the job done even with me feeling down and fed up at the moment.

You see this is where I'm totally misunderstood, in an ideal world I would genuinely like this to happen but unfortunately I think it is going to take a turn around of epic proportions. Miracles can happen i suppose, CH is a nice guy, too nice TBH <ok>

I'd prefer Zola, even if that might seem crazy because di Matteo is a CL winner.

quite simply, if you want hughton out because you don't like the style of football, then di matteo would be the most pointless appointment we could make
