a similar thread has appeared on b and a, and aj got laughed off the pitch when he proposed a statue of roland. 3 people in my book deserve a statue , arthur rowley, roland wycherley and graham turner, if he keeps us up.

why roland i hear you laugh? who bought a near bankrupt club so many years ago, who with his board have gradually prepared the club for promo after 15 years,? and yes it is a rocky ride at present. who took the club out of a regularly flooded crap stadium into a purpose built, well equipped new stadium?

gentlemen i give you roland wycherley who has done most for stfc over the past years. now i know he has his knockers, so did barbara windsor! he has been accused of being an old skinflint, but what a business he and his board are running. any thoughts?

I thought we already had statues! Some members of our back four.....the odd midfielder and some forwards have all been statuesque this season.

Just one observation about the old ground: any board would have done the same, this one was in the right place at the right time, it was nothing special HOWEVER all the other good stuff is to be applauded.

yes i agree, under the tenure of Rowland we have gained high league status, but i think that's more by good fortune and an on form GT, and also 15 years of bloody trying...he has took a good percentage out this club for himself and it will be an even bigger one when he retires (hence not parting with a penny to buy players), all this hasn't been done in the good name of Shrewsbury football club alone, so its a emphatic no about that subject...unless you want to buy the now defunked Jimmy Savile statue and paper-mash Rowlands head on it for less than forty quid.....well i might go along with that!!.....

Would you like to provide chapter and verse about these sums that RW has taken out of the club because the annual financial returns do not appear to bear this out? The one thing that does stand out is that he appears to be a control freak as to the day to day running of the club. This is born out by the rapid turnover of administrative staff and fellow directors.

now i wonder why...is it because the "booty is all mine".....?, he's does protect his own interests thats for sure, if you are aware of the annual financial returns you will also know how much he takes as an annual dividend, pensioned linked plus his expenses ...which annually works out quite a pretty penny at the end of the year, and far more than most "supremos" are pulling from their clubs in our division...hence his new villa in Montego bay Jamaica....but as supporters thats fair enough you live by your actions and you die by your actions, but i think a little bit of our gate money should be going to a little bit of team building..as ive said in the past the day will come when us the supporters can own our own club....and the sooner the better!!

i did put this thread on with tongue in cheek, but does anyone think rw etc deserve a statue. i think tinned hats may be slightly in the negative camp as far as our illustrious chairman is concerned. perhaps the statue may be covered in a tarpaulin when th is around. aj always trying to be helpful.

do hope whatshrew returns soon, his baleful score predictions are missed, although kds is making up for the loss.

it is at dire times like this that diamond geezer turns up to berate the board management and squad. hopefully town's goal fest tomorrow will keep him away. the person i miss most is jenny! and her cruel one liners, particulary on the gas boards. introducing mr blob to the loggerheads was one of the funniet bits of journalism i have seen

well done jenny! keep it up.

now come on you shrews, no excuse for tripping up tomorrow, the dressing room should be alive after the lattics win. and the prospect of some more fresh air on tueday should lift spirits as the squad, manager, coaches and directors go off for a 2 day tropical break to fairbourne on wednesday.

    program
    ------------

    leave oteley rd 08.30
    arrive arthog yha 11.15
    lunch.

pm cader idris and a jog from dolgelley to barmouth along the old cambrian branch
    dinner

    thursday
    --------
05.00 breakfast followed by swim in lake creggenan lakes
10.00 run and bonding on fairbourne sands. rw and gt return to coach by minature train in case of fatigue. the rest jog back to the coach
12.00 coach returns to salop with a stop for lunch at a supermarket welshpool

god these shrews know how to live! er floreat salopia. ps rw has been politely asked to conceal his hip flask to avoid inflaming the squad and management who will make do with crates of irn bru kindly loaned on a sale or return basis by towns sponsors.

roland and graham are giving cader idris a miss this year but are determined to go for a dip in lake cregennan high above arthog. should be just the tonic at 6am on a frosty morning! floreat salopia.

I would have thought more like down to Brycrug, kick around on the local pitch, call to see the old lady in the Mace for some out of date snacks...quick pint in the Peniarth, catch the bus to Dolgellau, calling in the Garth at Llwyngwril for another swift half....carrying on then to Morfa Mawddach, run down the 8 mile path to the George for a light lunch and another quick pint, then running all the way back down to Llwyngwril station and catching the train back to Shrewsbury station via Machynlleth......then....back on it!!

excellent memories th, although born in shrewsbury, i spent from 7 months to aged 4 living with mother and grandmother in llwyngwril. i am told the then landlord of the garth, oscar miller assisted a very young 3 year old aj pull a pint. having spent several holidays and sunday trips from salop i absolutely love llwyngwril.

playing on the sand in the 1940's and 50's and looking up at the passing trains gave aj a lifelong interest in trains. indeed aj so likes the village he has been collecting postcards of llwyn and has amassed 241 cards. sadly the last time i was in llwyn was 7 years ago and the garth was a banks house selling keg only.

all the places you mention bring many happy memories flloding back. i must try and get back to salop and the cambrian coast whilst still able to. many thanks for the memories.

er shrews 2 crewe o morgan, bradshaw, 6019 floreat salopia floreat llwyngwril!

Well aj its still a Banks house but are selling three different types of cask ale now, including Spitfire, Puritan and Abbots....the old lady who runs the Mace in bryncrug is 94 yrs old, you have to get what you want off the shelf and also ring it in the till yourself and sort your own change out!!, that wouldn't happen in the city....Please if you can, put the cards on this site, it would arouse great interest ..http://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/pages/Llwyngwril-Gwynedd-United-Kingdom/106497282717799?fref=ts

    Do you have a scanner?

If so, then I am sure people on this site, including myself, can help.
