Well we are well and truly into the season and we have started to see glimpses of football we all want to see. Sod has players he wants here, and they are showing their worth, some are being given a chance and showing what they can do. There are some super displays by individuals. But if we are serious about a top end finish,we need to start winning games and become consistent with points going onto the board. Saturday is a good time to start with one of the leagues weaker sides, then we have three home games to show some quality and consistency. Lets start with three points on Saturday.
I think we're in need of three points, purely for momentum. If we can push this cup form into the league then we could see ourselves rise up the table quickly.
plyd 10.... won 5............ drew 2 .................lost 3................... that would be ok....17pts if we lose more than 1 in 3 its going to be hard if we win less than 4 in 10 its going to be desperate we need to be like a cider apple...a pretty little flower getting pollinated. . . .done that, squad selection gathered in pollen, sorry players then asserting ourselves on the branch....pushing out the weaker applets...sorry under standard players initially we begin to swell slowly, absorbing moisture and nutrients. . . . . building up our potential, begin to develop techniques, doing that with 2 wins 2 losses and 2 draws continue swelling steadily ... improving our physique, dominance and points gathering rapidly swell as the end of the season draws near....play out of our skins for the final run in fall off the tree, into the basket and off for better things................. get into the top 2 and re emerge as a championship award winning brew!
It's not a must win game but I do think tomorrows performance/result will show whether we are on the right track, because we should be looking at a bare minimum of 1 point but probably all 3 in truth.
No disrespect to Gillingham but we should be beating them easily. We were unlucky to score just 2 last time and hopefully we can score more tomorrow. Of course I would settle for 2-0 now but if we are serious about competing in this league we should be beating Gillingham
Do need a win, especially as the next home game has now been postponed. A defeat would leave us half way through September on 2 points.
One of the big problems is that people don't seem to remember just how bad we were last season. We came last, and by quite a margin. We have been a League 1 team in the Championship for quite a while, and we've shed a number of good players while trying to get rid of the rot. As things stand, we're not a strong League 1 team by any stretch of the imagination. SOD has made a number of great signings, and our club is on the right track. That, for me, is more important than the results. I'm happy for us to be in League 1 if it means that we can balance the wages and build the team towards being stronger each season. In SOD we have a manager that also likes this club. He's applied for the job twice, and he's a manager that many Championship teams would love to have. If we sack him he'll be in a team above ours without question. I want SOD to be a constant at this club, and to stay with us even if we suffer this season.
Yes to the first part, but a big and definite no to the second part. There is some real crap in this league, and if we're not in the top 6 come the end of the season then SOD has failed royally.
I agree SoD will walk into the majority of championship clubs no problem,we are very lucky he wants to be here, and the majority of us want him here. He needs three four seasons to transform us and hopefully improve us as time goes by. But this league is rubbish and a minimum is top four with top two the aim.
I think we can reach top 2 IF we can play to our potential more often than not the problem is going to be consistancy if you look closely we have a rather threadbare squad almost all of our reserve players are in our development squad in fact some of them are in the first team already a couple of injuries and we are down to bare bones indeed, Bryan and Williams are doubtful which leaves us struggling the signing of Shorey might be a stop gap or might be to see if he fits in and from his point of view to see if he likes BS3 and L1 or wants to look elsewhere when he is fit.
