Think its time for the pitch to be relaid, yesterday it was abbysmal, no wonder we ended up hoofing it up front as passing on it is becoming harder. I am not blaming anyone in particular, at the end of the day it is in use every weekend by both us and the egg chasers. The council need to dig into the coffers and lay another pitch or the SMC needs to get their fingers out. We all crave for top flight football, but having to play on this sand pit aint gonna give us the option. People may say the cost is too great, but surely between them the Council and the SMC can gather enough cash to carry this neccessary work out. The prestige of playing in the premiership plus the extra money this brings in to the City's economy should justify it being dug up and returfed
I'm not sure, I don't think Koren's goal would have gone in on a better pitch. The inability to predict the bounce is the only explanation I can come up with for that tame strike beating the keeper.
It's down to the SMC, the council has no obligation to fix the pitch and of course the SMC is effectively Hull City AFC, so the money comes out the same pot.
Get Alan Titchmarsh and Charlie Dimmock in. Always loved watching Ground Force and those bouncing Dimmocks.
I think we'd all like to see a new pitch at City but frankly if the council did this it would be nothing short of a disgrace and it would rightly result in people losing their jobs. BTW - I appreciate it's odd to suggest someone lose their job over somehting they havent done, but this really would be the most innapropriate use of public funds imaginable.
The pitch got relaid last summer, but it was only down a couple of weeks before FC were playing on it again, it needs a long period of rest, which obviously isn't possible with the seasons been at different times. From the last game of the football season, Hull's home fixtures are: Sat, 05 May Sun, 03 Jun Sun, 01 Jul Mon, 23 Jul Sun, 29 Jul So I reckon the game on the 3rd June will be played on the 1st, and the pitch will get relaid on Saturday June 2nd.
No football on it for a little while, but I guess them fat lads will be on it sooner? Might be just enough of a window to get some of those bald patches covered.
Synthetic pitch = One off payment - Groundkeeping bills disappear - Dependable surface suitable for passing football - job done
If we got promoted we'd have to get rid of it, you can't use them in the Premier League(at least not yet).
As you said before OLM that rule isn't likely to be around much longer considering the advances that have been made and the way the new pitches have been accepted around the world. I think if we got involved in discussions with the Premiership now there's a fair chance we could get the green light in advance of an official rule change.
dont think barmby is happy with it...in his interview he mentioned hes looking forward to the cardiff game, as they have a very good pitch so it was on his mind..
AP said in his programme notes that a terrible pitch and useless refs were not conducive to promotion(or something similar).
Has to be something wrong with our pitch, groundstaff or stadium design as Cardiff have had rugby and football on their pitch all through winter and its still a good surface.
Watford, Reading, Stockport, Wycombe, Wigan and Bristol Rovers also share their grounds with rugby clubs.
Apart from the DW stadium in Wigan, the other stadiums you mention are all shared with Rugby Union clubs, which is played the same time as our football season so it has time to breath and be repaired over the summer months.
Which means that as ours was relaid last summer the comparison is that pitches with two teams playing on them all season is better than ones with only a football team on them by the time FC started their season.
