Reports suggest we're allowing other clubs to get into the race for Joel Ward because we're "slow in financing a £400,000 fee". Surely this on it's own dashes any thoughts that Bates might be financing one final push for promotion? Not to mention the clear signs resulting from us still only chasing freebies.

Bates has told Warnock we "need" (yeah right: http://swissramble.blogspot.co.uk/2012/05/leeds-united-marching-on-together.html) to sell players before we bring players in. This has resulted in one of our best players being put on the transfer list and the other being offered a contract so low it was known he would reject it, this has been done to paint Ross as the bad guy in this situation, and I can see it's clearly working on some people. This strategy is also likely to result in Snodgrass leaving as well as Aiden White, who is also already being set up as the "greedy footballer". This means there is an incredibly high chance none of the players we were looking to sign new contracts are going to stay.

Even if Bates gives Warnock all the money we get from these players, we can either try to replace them with players of the same quality, unlikely, but it would also still leave us with massive holes in the squad. The other path would be to use the money to rebuild the entire squad, however this couldn't possibly leave us with any players of the same quality as the ones departed. In either scenario we're left with a squad yet again weaker than the one of the season before.

Doubtless there will be some people asking me to "wait and see", and I was like that last season, but I'm not going to make that mistake again. It's incredibly difficult to see out forthcoming season as anything other than a train wreck waiting to happen. I'm not going to give up on the season, and I still love Leeds United as much as I ever have and always will, but as long as Bates is in charge we will follow this pattern until we either finally die after all our efforts to stay alive, or at best become a mid-table Championship side existing in mediocrity for the foreseeable future.

In my opinion we can either sit back and just back Neil and the lads like Ken has told us to, or we can channel our anger and do the utmost to save the Leeds United we knew for future generations.

I mentioned along the same lines on this thread http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/145870-Anyone-Else-Frustrated-or-Worried the signs are growing that we are going to have a lengthy wait and see period, I was one of those optimistic after the signing of Pearce, now we enter the last few days before Warnock departs for his holiday with 1 out of 4 players he wanted as a minimum in place. If we lose Snoddy, McCormack, White or Brown it will leave us even further behind. If it is going to be another season of discontent I hope Warnock comes forward NOW and says I am pissing off because Bates is a liar and the funds are not forthcoming...

I have to concede, it's not looking particularly good!

Not offering McCormack the contract he deserves is a bad move...

Now the finance arrangements within Elland Road are always questionable. We can not trust that Uncle Ken is re-investing the funds raised from player sales and season ticket sales etc. However we should take heart in the fact we are chasing players like Pearce and Ward for signing on fees.

Lets not let "reports" spread by rival clubs seeking the same player cause us concern, I would not put this past a creative agent trying to force our hand into paying that extra 5k a week.

Stick together and hold your nerve.

I've been saying this for weeks, having Colin and making one promising signing doesn't mean anything has changed.

And please Peacock, spare us the delusional optimism just for one day. Let us FEEL our pain.

Two wrongs don't make a right - Many Leicester fans like yourself accept what is both good and bad about your set-up just the same as Leeds fans with theirs. As much as Leicester will continue to waste a certain amount of money chasing their dream Leeds fans will continue to feel aggrieved about the lack of inevestment.

The BIG difference is, we just want Bates to invest back what we put in and what is made through player sales. We are not asking for Millions from his personal account...

People losing their bottle and panicking is what took Leeds United on such a downward spiral following DOL leaving...

Manchester United have debts of £700,000,000+ and keep their nerve, we here one report from Ipswich Town that we can not raise £400,000 and there is full on panic.

The small time mentality from some of you is a joke....

Ward is a no brainer.. £400k for a player valued in the region of 1.5 million under any other circumstances, fills a position we are short in, only 22 years old, we would get his fee, his wages back and any costs if it come to selling him again.

The several sources are from Ipswich Town, wake up and smell the bullshit boys.

We are been played by his agent to get more cash<doh>

As a moderator I thought you might have dug a bit deeper before upsetting Marko & Elmo like this, they are very easily upset you know.

Do you not get it? We're having problems paying the transfer fee, not Ward's wages.

Fox. You paid 1m for a striker that isn't even in the football league. You paid nearly 5m for Matt Mills who doesnt even get a game. With 5m Warnock would get us out of the championship comfortably.

    Cough, cough.

Why is some dic'khead talking about me when I have not even posted?

I don't see anyone panicking, especially not me. I don't know why people believed we were actually in the running for this guy. It's easy to make an offer that is below value and claim to be in the running to get all the loony's all salivating.

You are a little on the pessimistic side sometimes... Believing stupid stories like this will not help you turn away from the dark side :emoticon-0133-wait:
