http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/timvickery/2011/08/premier_league_will_test_talen.html On the verge of joining Liverpool, Uruguay centre back Sebastian Coates was last seen on the pitch in Buenos Aires celebrating victory in the Copa America, and then accepting an award for the best young player of the tournament. These are impressive credentials for a player who is not 21 until October. Coates is shaping up as a potential future captain of his country but, assuming the deal goes through, the challenge he now faces at club level is very different, and is surely going to stretch the youngster with the gangling frame.
Good read. I doubt we would here anything about him sining until it is done. It's like with Saurez, we knew he was in Liverpool for a few days but we didn't hear much until the work permit etc were all sorted.
He's had his medical, it won't be finalised until he's registered as a Liverpool player and he's granted a work permit which he shouldn't have any problem getting as he's a full Uruguay International.
It can be done within hours. The Home Office usually try to ensure that there is as little delay as possible when the 'window' is closing
The Home office did only open for Work Visas about 2 hours ago, so I expect to hear the Coates deal done soon.
Would they give football teams special treatment over bank holiday though? Hope it's done today if not though.
He looks like a good player but you can never really tell until you see him playing for us. I hope he is as good as he looks in the video ive seen and from what i saw when the copa america was on. I really do think Carra is becoming a bit of a liability and we should really be looking to slowly blood the Coates (if he is good) into the team as a replacement to Carra.
well deals can be done and players registered without one, so its not a big worry is it? you guys remember the last time we got accused of shenanigans by the wums when a certain player arrived after the window closed In that case the permit was awarded so i see no issue really with this move.
Doubt it mate I seem to remember it got mentioned last year this but it's only a process that takes a few hours so unless we turn into Spurs and leave it until 8pm tomorrow it will be done. There shouldn't be a problem with meeting the criteria for his permit so it'll definately go through soon this
It seems to be taking a long time. We don't suspect a problem, do we? He was at the match on Saturday as I'm sure you're all aware.
