    .....WBA was not a one off - this was MUCH worse.....we are in a relegation dogfight this year if that's anything to go by. I don't need to see anymore;

    • One of last years best defences in the league looks awful
    • Our so called Tika Taka style leaves acres and acres of space for the opposition in every game we've played.
    • Our players look lost tbh - it's terrible to watch
    • Gerrard can't play 2 matches in a week & his short game isn't all that good tbh
    • Sterling is not going to be the answer and nor should he be - it's mighty unfair to heap so much expectation on his shoulders
    • We have no depth up front - terrible management at ALL levels
    • Borini is going to take an age to settle - get used to it
    • Nobody can finish......did nobody figure that out after last year? Why haven't we addressed this?
    • Lucas is out for 3 months - we have no real cover
    • We cannot score in open play - despite playing occasional pretty football....No penetration at all
    • Skrtl looks a liability on the ball
    • Rodgers wanted total control - e.g. No director of football. He got it. There are no excuses....the results are down to him.... It's impossible to change everything at once. Ask AVB. Naivity at its absolute worst.
    • Reina needs to be dropped

Make no mistake, if BR insists on playing this way for the remainder of the season and we offer the same level of performance, we are in a relegation fight. Truly awful. Hope everyone hangs their heads in shame.

Note: I thought Shelvey came out of the game with some credit.

Also note that I am not one to normally so negative but I really don't like what I am seeing anymore at LFC today, from top down. Scary times.

Without going all Roy Hodgson, give it 10 games at the very least before we can see where we stand, as it stand Spurs are on 2 points, Arsenal on 5 and Utd potentially on 3!

We can all see the problems we have but for now we just have to deal with it, I honestly don't think it's as bad as people are making out.

Sorry...am not one to be so pessimistic normally but that was a very naive performance. I don't like ANYTHING that I see right now. I couldn't take anything positive (other than the Shelvey comment) out of that match.....could you?

Don't be silly. We're playing well. Rodgers has made some good signings. It will take time for us to pass like barca! The biggest issue is our leaky defence and no striker, the latter I will blame FSG for.

Let's be honest. Southampton did ok against City!! I can only judge what I can see, and against City we were awful defensively and scored with 2 set plays - nothing from open play! <ok>

I think before we see the philosophy come through a develop we have to take care of the knitty gritty things; the silly errors.

It's hard to dominate games and outplay teams if we're gifting the opposition goals and throwing the ball in to the net. We have played well, and dominated our games but a lot of the goals we have given away cheaply and I'm sure it'll be something Rodgers will want to cut out sooner rather than later.

Sorry but do you really think that we played well today? Perhaps it's just me then! Seriously lads, this 'whole 'we're playing well, couldn't ask for more' rhetoric is worrying frankly.

We played well until the goal - the problem is belief and a lack of clinical finishing.

I think the lack of confidence and belief is the biggest problem. We just saw Utd come from 2-1 down with 5 minutes to go and still win. Heads didn't drop, they fought back.

I don't see the belief in our team unless we score the first goal. Rodgers has said that we're looking at the free transfer market - not sure what is available but we definitely need a striker.

We played so well against Man City and I thought we were showing some good signs but today's performance was abysmal. Perhaps the deadline day fiasco completely ruined our belief?

I don't know how one club can continue to spend so much on such **** players for so long.

Liverpool's team now is hardly any better than the Leeds one that went down in 2004, and it's more expensive to boot (you're obviously never going to go down, but you know what I mean)

We've bought well this summer, I don't think we will see overpriced pointless signings anymore, not now FSG have turned full-stinge

Allen and Sahib look good. Shame sahin is only a loan. The two young Germans may be for the future only... let's wait to see how they do. Borini has played as much as anyone so far and has consistently been one of our poorest players... won't write him off yet but early signs arnt good.

All this and our biggest concern, attack, we sold all the options we had and brought no one useable in.

I'd say it was a poor summer.

We could still turn out OK... but all players need to improve.

<doh> How the hell are you going to cope kenny king....you have a minimum of 3 seasons of this type of football yet to get through....Your players cant get to the same standard as young joe allen over night, that young man has been playing and learning since he was 9 years old at Swansea......Its going to take a few seasons and as your owners have guaranteed him 3 seasons then you had better get use to things not going to plan in his infancy of change....maybe if you cant hack it you should stay away for a couple of seasons or so while Brendan does the job your owners are paying him for....

If we had a striker like van Persie, maybe we could have come back as well. Very little up front at the moment, too dependent on Suarez, if he gets injured, we are goosed. I will give it 10 games but so far, not impressed.

The problems at Liverpool are not a surprise to Swansea fans - and confirms what we have said all along.

Brendan came to Swansea after 4 years of donkeywork by Roberto Martinez and Paulo Sousa. The system and personnel were in place and Rodgers successfully added to it.

Rodgers is now trying to impose the system at Liverpool, on a squad (and fans - because they have to be patient) who are not ready for it. He tried to do this at Reading and got sacked.

I made the point in another thread, but I'll repeat it here, as I love my opinion so much....

I can accept that the team is down after the transfer window fiasco. The players are not daft, and they are going to feel punched in the gut. We now have an international break to brood over this. It is going to take some great managerial skills to lift this team again. It is acid test time for Rodgers. Sunderland will be make or break for him this season.
