Tbh its probably a bit of a non story, but here you go anyway http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,12876_6926716,00.html If hes going to move to another champ club, its gonna be us because of Nige. Its suggesting that Leicester at least are looking to offload, which I hadnt seen in an article yet. All the talk from Sven before he left was that it was simply a loan due to limited chances, as he was rated highly still. Sky are usually on the money anyway.
highly doubt he'll go anywhere but here to be honest. we all know he has a great relationship with NP, its why he came here in the first place. done deal as far as im concerned (unless leicester want crazy money)
i agree, if we agree a fee with leicester then that'll be it. even if sides dropping down the premier league show an interest i still think he'd rather stay with us.
I know some people dislike him but i really rate him and think that he is the exact type of player we need if we want to go up.
If we get Ayala then my first choice would be Ayala/Chester, I think any money spent on Hobbs could be better spent elsewhere, such as the midfield.
Good point, but I feel Chester gets caught out too many times with his lack of height for a central defender. Hobbs/Ayala wouldn't.
Really ? Why unbelievable ? Chester is a decent defender, but Hobbs offers more as a central defender in my opinion.
For me Hobbs will sign for you. I can only see him playing for either you or staying here next season. If Sven lets him go he will join Nigel without a doubt
Because Chester is a FAR superior defender. He is intelligent, he reads situations better than anyone I've seen for many a year, his tackling is superb and he is very calm, never rushing into situations. I certainly haven't noticed him losing out in heading situations, and even if he did with a tall partner that would not be a problem (just as with Cannovaro). Hobbs is a good player but nowhere near as good a defender as Chester. The only thing you can criticise Chester with is his distribution but I think that will come as he gains experience (and it's not that important anyway, I prefer defenders to defend).
We'll need more than two centre halves.Hobbs is still a young lad and would be a more than decent addition to the squad.
Hmm, I agree with some of your points - but I distinctly remember him misjudging the bounce of many a ball that subsequently sailed over his head. Hobbs began to use the simple ball out of defence and always made himself an option to a struggling midfield player. Chester is indeed an intelligent player, but if you, as you state you do, prefer defenders to defend - Hobbs is the obvious choice between the 2 in central defence. NP made that choice towards the end of season, utilizing Chester elsewhere. With Hobbs and Ayala at the back, we'd have height, distribution, and all round reading of the game combined.
If we end up with Ayala, Chester and Hobbs as well as Cooper( whom I rate as one for the future) I'll be one happy camper.Compared to Gardner, Zayatte,Kilbane and McShane who would seriously argue that we wouldn't be in a far better place than the beginning of this/last ?? season. In NP , SW and CS we trust.
I think Chester and Ayala are very similar in height! Blimey just checked....didn't realise Ayala was a lofty 6'3", same height as me, he just looked small!!!
REALLY????? You stated "but I feel Chester gets caught out too many times with his lack of height " Fabio Cannovaro Height: 1.76 m (5 ft 9 1⁄2 in) James Chester Height: 1.76 m (5 ft 9 1⁄2 in) Why is it "unbelieveable" to compare James Chester with Fabio Cannovaro when the argument is that height need not affect how good a defender you are?
