Real shame, It looked at one stage that Zak and Ayala were going to be Lambert's first choice CB's

yes they looked very comfortable, lets hope R Bennett can slot in and cover for Ayala until he is fit again, then would love to see these Ayala and Bennett get a start as CB pairing.

Bennett can get a run of games now, will set him up for next season as well.

Absolute ****ter this is. Injuries have been constant thorn for us in the defence this season this is exactly why we need to purchase Naughton, another centre back and left back this summer.

Looks like Real Madrid are targeting Kyle Walker which would kill our chance of getting Naughton!

It's a shame but I think a left back in the summer may become a priority now, along with Naughton/someone else. Drury is good, but does he have the pace to keep up with the best wingers if Tierney gets injured again next season?

I'd be very surprised to see another CB this summer, having spent £3m in January, unless at least one leaves.

Not necessarily, Dave. I think he's a fantastic player and one of our players of the season. However, I'm not sure he is quite good enough yet for a top 4/5 team that is looking for Champions League football. IMO, its going to be a decision made by the player - I mean, if he really wants to stay with us and not be a back-up at Spurs, as long as we can afford him, he would come.

Ayala's had some bad injuries, Whitbread has had injury issues in the past and to be honest with you I don't have much confidence in Barnett and I have a lot of doubts over Ward, we rarely keep a clean sheet and have been hammered by injuries. 4 quality centre backs for me is must we have three we just need another one.
