I just give them Chazz's name and address when they ask for my details. It may be an abuse of mod info, but it works for me. <ok>

It's funny you should say that <laugh>

He was a big lad with a big beard and well yes, it did cross my mind to chin the ****, but I don't fancy going to court and being told I have to do time.

Oh I don't know, I just find it odd that people can vandalise all the nice things that have been done for the local community and get off.

    Anyway, it's done now.

I watched the briefing last night and I agree some of the media folk did ask questions which couldn't really be answered, in particular the ones about booking summer holidays. But would you want those questions not to be asked? It's not the questions that tell us anything it's the way in which they're answered. And they're only questions which half the population are asking themselves. The newspaper headlines this morning make little if any mention of 'lockdown until summer' or any other fabricated story, they're more interested in reporting the £500 covid test proposal and the flooding than whipping up frenzy amongst the population with inflammatory tales of doom and gloom.
I'm no great fan of the media but right now I think they're behaving well enough in what are very trying and uncertain times.

I guess we have a different view and experience of the media.

The questions are pointless, and the manner in which they are asked is designed to look searching, but are in reality pointless as far as informing the public is concerned, as it's not possible to answer them in a way that doesn't create false hope, despair or looks like evasion or a lack of knowledge. The media a re fully aware of this, and are not doing it to help or support anything other than clicks on their website to generate advertising income.

Minister, how long is a piece of string? How many angels can stand on the head of a pin? You don't know? How can our viewers/listeners trust anything you say?

But if they didn't ask these pointless questions they'd be slagged for that aswell. How many times has Burnsy been vilified on here for not asking McCann the questions the fans want him to ask even though they're impossible to answer in a positive, absolute way. The questions asked last evening about summer holidays were answered in a way that said, to me at least, that the government just doesn't know the answer yet, and I think that's a legitimate response. There was no false hope, despair or evasion on show, that for me justifies the question being asked. Might have been different if Boris had been answering mind...

And what's wrong with answering 'I don't know yet'? It's better than some made up bullshit which will almost certainly come back and bite.

Nope. If their goal was to inform, and if they were proper journalists, they could ask pertinent questions, and supplement the articles with an explanation of those points. As they're not really journalists, but marketing tools for click bait, they just ask the silly questions in the hope they become part of the story.

    It's shameful, piss poor journalism.

And then have the interviewer say, as they sigh and turn to camera, so the man being paid thousands can't answer a simple question. Why is he still in the job? An honest answer of I don't know, often because they are asked a question referring to matters which have nothing to with their department, is treated as some major slight.

"Minister, how long is a piece of string? "
Twice the length from the centre to any one end.

Official figures show the estimated R number in the UK has dropped to between 0.8-1.0, down from 1.2-1.3 previously.
