Absolutely shameful and unwarranted. This is now the third consecutive year the prices have been hiked up at Portman Road. The price increase does not reflect an obvious investment, any discernible ambition, or improved results on the pitch from last year. For me, this misguided move simply provides a stark reminder that the mismanagement, problems, and failings of this club run deeper than the style of football or an inconsistent team selection from the manager. The board and this owner continue to take us for mugs and look even further out of touch with the paying supporter.
On the other hand the doing away with the grading prices for home matches isn't necessarily a bad thing, all tickets in the lower tiers to be £27.50, still fairly expensive, but it does mean that I won't be paying £64 for two tickets in the Lower North for my son and myself to watch the Old Farm Derby next season. http://www.eadt.co.uk/sport/ipswich...or_third_successive_year_is_it_fair_1_4442897
I'm afraid that those days of paying £2.50 to stand at the front of the North Stand on your milk crate are long gone mate...
" On the other hand the doing away with the grading prices for home matches isn't necessarily a bad thing " Well I wonder why the club are doing this - basically because we have more cat C games than A ( Around 5/8 C a season vs 2 A ) especially Tuesday evening C games so that's a bloody con. Well done club. With Norwich looking very likely to get relegated, we'll essentially lose the extra revenue from this fixture and perhaps Villa too as both would be A games so yet another own goal from the club. Otherwise yes the same price category does make perfect sense but it's yet another way to generally shaft our fans, something we're amazingly good at. Huddersfield are doing their first 10,000 season tickets at less than £200,,,, Another champ club ( name escapes me ) are reducing theirs, yet we want MORE MORE ****ing more. No doubt the club will say " we need this to invest in new players " well I'm sorry but that never sodding happens - We're losing around £ 8 mill per year, and the only way this is being covered is by selling the likes of Mings, Wickham and Cresswell. Another thing - Milne said what I'm sure I've posted on here before due to reading the secret footballer as to transfers - " People think we get all the Mings / Wickham money upfront but the payments are always spread over time ". Mick / whoever is incharge will have exactly the same issues. At least Cameron Stewart will be off the books and we no longer have the likes of Bullard / Chopra / Taylor.
Haha yeah there does appear to be an element of that there reading it back through. In essence - I would have them all at the same price but the club are keen to go this way as there are more cat C than A so it's good for them to do it.
Hopefully this idea will filter down the leagues. A good move from the premier league to cap away ticket prices at thirty quid. http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/35764007
A very good move to cap away prices at £30 in the Premier League - I would say it makes it quite awkward for home clubs to charge their fans more than away or it would look somewhat ridiculous if a Liverpool fan for instance is paying £45 behind the goal and three seats over an away Arsenal fan is paying £30. Also, any championship club trying to charge over £30 for an away ticket - should really think twice now. A good day for football this.
All clubs further down the league pyramid need to reassess their ticket pricing now due to this. You're not going to be able to justify to any supporter having to pay more than thirty quid for a championship away ticket now.
