Am sitting in my normal set as I did the cup renewal ticket option. The ground is sold out. The lads that I sit with are in another stand as the SA road stand is sold. The ground is packed. The ticket prices dropped for today. The crowd today is different to the normal match day. It is local. More kids than normal. More mums. It is also more passionate. Very angry about each ball missed. Angry conversations about the state of the club etc. it is a west London crowd. Also a lo more working class. I make a huge assumption here base on accent and clothes and vocabulary and could be wrong but the point is made. This crowd is priced out of the game normally? The ref is a complete """". And of course we are so so poor. Wish the team had the heart and soul the crowd do today. They just scored a well deserved second.
You've hit the nail on the head. I can't afford a season ticket and most games are £40+ for a decent seat. The real fans ARE being priced out. Take away 2-3,000 hardcore fans and you do change the atmosphere of a game. The Loftus Road of the 60s & 70s is gone forever...
