Good luck indeed. Wouldn't mind some of that! The long awaited return of the forums favourite horse, SQUIRE. (Epsom 8:20) He has had a second wind op over the winter break and his breathing is now as clean as could be. He has however taken some time to get race fit since his holiday and subsequent operation. He has had a few back problems that the chiropractor has been treating him for but he is now as healthy as we have ever had him. He worked with Embankment on Saturday and was ridden to get to the front which doesn't sound good until you factor in the two stone weight difference between the two pilots. He did however have a really hard blow afterwards which would definitely indicate that he would come on for the run. We will be disappointed if he isn't running this lot close tomorrow night but at the same time he will strip fitter for his next run. He usually surprises us with a very good run when fresh so we are hopeful rather than expectant.
So it's pile on tomorrow and double up next time if he loses (provided he has proved his well being under pressure)?
Best of luck tomorrow! Will be cheering him home as always (don't worry it will be without a financial interest on him so he has a decent chance now!! ) but seriously hope runs a stormer for you!!
Good luck with him tomorrow stick i won't burden him with my dough so that will be worth an extra stone lol as always hope he comes back safe and sound
I notice the predictor on at the races has Squire winning , if only it were that simple, do you think he'll like the track ?
I was wondering the same rudey. When he ran at Epsom, the ATR race comment was "pulled hard towards rear, some late headway, never troubled leaders, nearest finish" but the Racing Post commented "Held up, not handle downhill and last straight, never on terms after but kept on final 2f to take 4th near finish" and Sporting Life comment "Pulled hard towards rear, some late headway, never troubled leaders, nearest finish". If I remember correctly Crowley held him up too much. So it depends whether we believe that Crowley was holding him up because he wasn't handling the track and was trying to keep him balanced, or that he was holding him up unnecessarily (contributing to his defeat) which made it look as though Squire didn't handle the track. He has a decent jockey on him now so it will be interesting to see what tactics are applied today. According to SL he has never ran off a mark this high before, which is a bit weird considering his last 4 runs (ie since his latest win) reads 5247 Anyway, best of luck stick and Don and, as always, I hope he comes home safe and sound
Best of luck Stick and Don. He won't be burden with my cash today which is always a bonus, I quite fancy Live Dangerously at 14/1 to run well
PS, if the jockey doesn't hold him back at any stage and he doesn't blow up for needing the run, he has a good chance of taking this. The absence and the track are the only question marks and I have a suspicion that the latter will be removed
He lives at the track fellas, not saying he gets to spin on the racecourse proper or anything..... On his only run here he had a fight with Crowley who was trying to hold him up too much. Adam gets on with him as well as anyone so tonight we should get a much better showing. If he doesn't win it will be because he is just short of match fitness, no other excuses.
I'm sure you detected that I was being exceptionally tactful stick . I recall not being very complimentary towards Crowley after that ride.
are you making your usual arc trip this year? Can't remember if you went last yr as it was at Chantilly?
Believe it or not we've only been twice, Danedream and Golden Horn. Won't be going again until Longchamp is ready and we have a good crop of horses to cheer
