Racing hopefully from 10 cards in the UK ffos las Fontwell huntingdon Kempton Market raison sedgefield towcestor wetherby wincanton Wolverhampton one from NI Down royal two from IRE Leapardstown limerick so fingers crossed Personally im looking forward to a few that run but im getting in early to put this one up Brass monkey holds 2 entries and his form of late would suggest a win either way . Brass holds a slot at Fontwell 245 in the hvy which would be my preferance also Huntingdon 120 . BRASS MONKEYS last three runs read 112 the 2 being the last at fontwell 1f further , weighted well at either card , after Boxingday I fully expect the form to read 1121 as brass has been in top form with some impressive runs also the conditions at fontwell will not bother brass in the slightest. Sorry Ron Oddy just had to start the thread early lol
Good man Uncle cards already up so plenty of studying time for this little lot: 4 Grade 1s (Feltham, Christmas Hurdle, King George all at Kempton plus the Racing Post Novice Chase at Leopardstown) 2 Grade 2s (Knight Frank Juvenile Hurdle at Leopardstown and the Greenmount Park Novice Chase from Limerick) 1 Grade 3 (Rowland Meryck from Wetherby) Plus the listed mares bumper at Huntingdon and more handicaps and novice races than you can shake a stick at
Right that's the first at Kempton sorted - Dubai Prince will have too much speed for this lot put Sgt Reckless in for the forecast.
My only arrows for Boxing Day, and bets placed ...... Kemp 1-25 Roger Beantown EW Kemp 3-10 Al Ferof Weth 1-45 Sydney Paget Good luck all
Quick question all, what happened to the Sportinglife.com replays you could watch? I log in now and nothing happens when I try to form study for a big race. Strange!
Think you have to have a skyBet account now or something. You can watch some on ATR if you log in. Also if you know the date of the race you might be able to find it here... http://www.thejockeyclub.co.uk/video/
Just used this site Hawk, to watch Dynaste win the Feltham last year. I'd forgotten what an imperious performance that was. I'm regretting backing Al Ferof now!
All about The New One for me - will out battle MTOY and win by 2 lengths. Will be 9/4 fav for the Champion Hurdle come Thursday Evening
Al Ferof, The New One, Thunderstorm and Twelve Roses in a win lucky 15 for me. I can't resist an each way on Menorah @ 25s in the KG either. He may kick the first fence over but if he manages a clear round (and granted that is a pretty big if) he'll be thereabouts at the business end. Undefeated in 3 previous outings at Kempton too. Bugger it may even put him in a reverse forecast with Al Ferof, it is Christmas after all. Good luck all.
I might be in the minority here but I genuinely feel My Tent Or Yours will beat The New One easily. The New One might be able to beat slow horses like Zarkandar, but up against a horse with an engine like My Tent Or Yours he will be left for dead, particularly on a track like Kempton
Shergar you have been quiet of late... My tent or yours will win this for me......his price will contract for champion hurdle...
My Tent Or Yours is tailor made for Kemptons Christmas Hurdle, and I think he can win this as he is an absolute speedball. The New One could get into trouble because he does not want to hit the front too soon and by that time it might be too late as Kempton will play right to the speed strengths of My Tent Or Yours. Then fingers crossed for a better price on TNO for the Champion where he reverses form?
Why does The New One not want to hit the front too soon? Wake him up off the bend, kick between the last two like he done at Kempton first time out, if he clocks 13 seconds between those two again the race will be finished at the last. If he wants to sit and play last off the bridle with McCoy and My Tent then he will get beat, if he rides The New One like he did at Kempton last time and the horse moves the way he did between the last two then he will win.
I am with you as well Shergar as I am not entirely convinced the New One is top class. I remember how he emptied quite quickly after travelling well against At Fishers Cross last season and for one moment looked as though may do against Zarkander also before running on again. I think he is deceptive because he travels so well but may just lack against the best such as Hurricane Fly. Boxing day will allow both horses to be tested by each other and attempt to put themselves in the Champion Picture. In my view My Tent or Yours will win this contest but neither will win the Champion. One thing is for sure though the Christmas hurdle is a no bet race as neither offers value against the other. In the King George I feel with a clear round Silviano Conti will win.
Putting my thoughts down on the Kempton races today so that I don't change my mind tomorrow (laugh): 12.50 Dubai Prince. This is a race that Nicky Henderson likes to target (won it lat year with River Maigue and the year before with Tetlami) so his runner Vaniteux must be respected but I just think Dubai Prince could be something a bit special and flat group horse that can go on to make his mark in the winter game. His debut over hurdles ended with a bloodless victory at Leicester and the 2nd has since franked the form by going out and beating a Nicholls horse at the same track. Dubai Prince (unlike some of his stablemates) hurdled fluently on debut and clearly has excellent flat speed and I think 2 miles around Kempton against more robustly-bred NH types should see him to best effect. I like the Channon horse to chase him home - Mr Henderson's horse looks like he needs further to me, based on his debut run. 1.25 Urbain de Sivola. Quite interesting that a few of these make their chasing bows in this competitive Novices Handicap Chase, including Paul Nicholls Urbain de Sivola. Here's what Nicholls has to say about his charge in his Betfair column: "Joined from Nick Williams in the summer and I was delighted with his first start for us in a handicap hurdle at Sandown earlier in the month, his first run after a summer breathing operation. I was pretty sure that he would need that run, so his second there was especially pleasing. Chasing was always the plan for him this season, and I think he makes his debut over fences off a fair mark. Soft ground seems to be no problem for him, too, and I can see him going close." 11th in Countrywide Flame's Triumph and 9th in the Ladbroke last year (with plenty of trips to France in between) his hurdles form was better than most of these and he will have been well schooled for his chase debut. Mr Nicholls looking to land a nice pot here I fancy. 2.00 Just A Par. Not a highly original selection but this son of Island House can notch up a quick double for the Ditcheat maestro. Slammed Third Intention at Newbury and although the Tizzard horse is 7lbs better off here I can't see it making a blind bit of difference. 2.35 The New One. I have him as vastly superior to MTOY on the form book and The New One has tatical speed to burn. Anything around evens is a steal, McCoy won't see which way he went. 3.10 Dynaste. A high quality renewal of the King George with 8 Grade 1 winners in the field. I think course form is more important than most people think at Kempton, especially in staying chases, and you need a horse that can get into a nice rhythm. I though Dynaste was outstanding in the Feltham here last year and I will be on him to reverse Haydock running with Cue Card. 3.45 Twelve Roses. Hard to spot one that looks particularly well handicapped here but I'll take a chance that the Champ can get Twelve Roses home in front off a mark of 130. He's been knocking on the door on his last 3 runs, including last time when 4th in a Pertemps Qualifier at Newbury and a reproduction of that should be enough to take this unless there is a lurker amongst the unexposed sorts in the race.
So common opinion is it's a straight shoot out between MTOY and TNO tomorrow? No one even going to consider Grumeti, 20/1 (PP) is a huge price for this horse and is the one I'll be backing ew. Top two far too short in the market for me to bother with
