This day last year Mark Gillard sent AVITHOS up to Sedgefield for the staying hurdle, employed the forums favourite jockey Brian Hughes and took the spoils with a pretty cosy win. That was off a mark of 82 and he bids to repeat the exercise with the same combination today only this time AVITHOS is 4lbs lower off 78. At 8/1 I think he looks a stonking good bet. The horse has few vices and hasnt been running two bad in recent starts at Fakenham.
16:40 Sedgefield - Bandit D'Ainay (There is a faint possibility that this Crossharbour gelding might run a good race in this Class-5 Handicap Chase. even though the gelding has really disappointed the stable since arriving from France last Autumn. Therefore, it is very much in question as to whether or not the French-bred will put his best hoof forward for a change? The gelding has not recaptured the fair form he showed in France, but it's always possible he just might do that? Experienced jockey Alain Cawley takes the ride for the Micky Hammond yard. 10/1 best price at time of writing, freely-available. E/W best option).
Wow, then I will do the same! Really like the chance of yours, but mine is a bit dodgy to say the least.
I think the going was a little on the fast side for yours last time. Be more at home today and has dropped a lot in the weights since the yard have had him.
Mine was virtually a flat race with minimum number of fences to jump. Think mine couldn't keep-up and was pulled-up. Oh well, that's racing.
The Goffer won his Cheltenham prep at Thurles today so it would appear to be "all systems go" for the Martin Pipe. As low as 10/1 for that heat now (although 16/1 still available)- His only entry at the festival. The handicapper might take a dim view of him winning a Grade 3 novice hurdle today though - although he may well need that to get it.
