Just missed out on a short priced treble today and can't see anything of interest tomorrow. Bit of a waste of a post really
Morning all. A couple of ew punts for me today. Mirsky in the Clipper @ 33s. French import for O’Meara who has ran ok so far this season but local trainer has probably had this in mind for a while. Mereside Diva also @ 33s in the lucky last fillies handicap. Good luck all.
A bit of rain at York but still going to be fast conditions today. Hoping Betsy Clover acts on the ground in the first.
It is a shame that they decided to pitch Bluestocking in against the boys on Wednesday as she would probably have been favourite for the Yorkshire Oaks. As it is half the field are older fillies and mares and half are the Classic generation. Sea Theme would need to step up markedly on what she has achieved to date, winning a Listed race at Clairefontaine when last seen after several reverses in Group company following victory on this card last term in the Galtres Stakes. Mistral Star also looks to be chasing place black type after winning a Listed race at HQ last time with a bit to spare. Emily Upjohn has form in the book that would make her good enough today but she has not won in six starts since last year’s Coronation Cup when she beat four rivals. She was only fourth in that race this time and she must be vulnerable today. Her stablemate Queen Of The Pride continues to improve with each race and she won the Pinnacle Stakes (Mistral Star and Sea Theme behind) and the Lancashire Oaks (Sea Theme behind) and looks the most likely winner from the older generation. The Juddmonte International saw a clean sweep of the places for the Classic generation and the key form race here appears to be the Irish Oaks. Port Fairy ran abysmally at The Curragh but she previously beat Lava Stream in the Ribblesdale with You Got To Me in fourth having tried to make all the running. In the Irish Classic tactics changed and Port Fairy never threatened finishing second last, Lava Stream was a never dangerous ninth, favourite Content stayed on for second and You Got To Me won. The only previous front runner in this field is You Got To Me, so I wonder if Ryan Moore might try setting the fractions as he did on City Of Troy if Hector Crouch does not go on. Emily Upjohn has a tendency to pull in slowly run races so although she finished ahead of Content in the Pretty Polly it would be no surprise to see that reversed but unless somebody comes up with a tactical ploy I expect Queen Of The Pride and YOU GOT TO ME to be fighting out the finish if Crouch does not overdo his efforts to steal this like he did the Lingfield Oaks Trial.
Thanks for Mirsky, backed it each way and was shouting home my wife's bet when I realised mine was 2nd and catching fast.
