It caught my eye in this race that De Sousa rides at York all day and then travels all the way down to Newmarket for one ride in the last. Could be nothing

If he lives in Newmarket he'd be travelling all the way down anyway! Need to find out, do some snooping............ :bandit:

Morning, team. Big question of the day has to be are we all back on The Great Bear for the old Der-bee. Reinstated in the market as low as 40/1 – but Bet365 go 200/1 which is over 3 times bigger than any other firm. It is going to be fascinating to see the perch that The Great Bear is given, early next week, and I guess, ultimately, this will steer connections in how they go. Deemed exploitable and it may well be the ‘King George V Handicap’ at the Royal meeting. Too severe and connections will have little alternative but to step the old boy up into Group company – cough… Derby. Handicapper, it’s over to you, my old love.

Yesterday’s other selected (Press Gang) ran a fair race to be 4th. I would expect him to win something similar before the summer is out, team, so keep him in mind for similar contests.

Nothing for me today but there are a couple of nice ones for Friday and Saturday. I’m going to deploy that terrible racing cliché (no not ‘I’ve been told…’ . Fear not, regular readers, I haven’t been liaising with one of Lieutenant Henderson’s Privates or my Newmarket mole Henrietta Carrot) as I believe both are ‘Group horses in a handicap’.

Good point, though he does live in Newmarket

Like a ****** it never crossed my mind this scenario and now I'm wondering how many other times I've 'spotted' things like this and the explanation is that simple. It's also put me off having a bet on it so I will leave it alone and wish you the best of luck with your runner Grade One

Yeah, although I think the heir to the biscuit tin fortune got his Nicky’s mixed up when allocating the horse. Was obviously meant for the Lieutenant but ended up with Mr Richards.

Cor blimey, I am shocked and disappointed. I always envisaged you as the type to quote Oscar Wilde, Shakespeare or Einstein not the bally blinkin’ Sun newspaper. Almost as bad as that chap who used to come on here and attribute his sources to Wikipedia!

Needs must old boy.

Unfortunately / fortunately (delete as appropriate) the one that I was going to tip of the morrow is now a non-runner. Rhossili Down, one that I have mentioned many times before (loved her debut run and she has had excuses the last twice), won't be going to York. Look out for the old girl though when she does make her handicap bow.

As he is riding at York on Friday, it would make no logical sense to go home to Newmarket on Thursday to then drive all the way back. Perhaps he loves the 40mph roadworks between Huntingdon and Cambridge on the A14; or he is on a promise with Hayley Turner Thursday night (lucky fecker).

For Thursday at York, I can see Line Of Duty overturning Too Darn Hot, for whom the training setback excuse is already at hand.

York Treble 10/1
Copper Knight to be placed (top4)
Lag Ti Dar Win
Too Darn Hot Win
Shout Red <ok> Shout me too but as I hadn't posted I won't mention it <whistle>

Lah Ti Da, Too Darn Hot, Loves Dream and Sufficient my others :D

There is zero chance of Great Bear running in the Derby. That was an egg and spoon race he won last night. The second and third had run to 40 and 37 on their previous starts. If the Handicapper is bullish I suppose he may award a mark of about 80 to Great Bear. That would be unlikely to get him into the King George V because the lowest rated horse in last year's renewal was on 87.
