    TEXT FROM WILLIE

"Dannnnnoooooo, what went at wetherby, u northern lads are strange, a flag is a flag is a flag, (there will be loads at Brighton today, oh no thats fa,,,never mind), 9 boys out for the charlie hall is our gain, getem on the ferry over here i say, any way heres one for you and oddy Bundle Of Fun (named after oddy by the way) runs in the 3m 1f QR Handicap Chase. He will like the trip and the ground. He has previous chasing experienced and, if he can maintain the improvement he has shown over hurdles, he must have a good chance here off his old chasing mark, got to watchthat Doral fella mind, but get on large, let that gdc do a rfc on the pair, laters Dano and stay frosty"

Danbo: Dependant on the price Bundle of Fun could be a good bet mate, never bother with the old RFC across the sea though :emoticon-0103-cool:

Not too keen on anything today but thought Mi Regalo was quite interesting at 14/1 in last at Brighton. He was very keen at Goodwood over 6f on testing ground after a layoff, but showed up quite well considering and the drop back to 5f on decent ground today should suit. With the run under his belt and natural improvement expected after only 4 runs, plus the 3 pound drop in the weights, assuming he settles better, I would be looking for him to run some sort of a race today although id be slightly surprised if he won.

Just one for me today. I really like the look of Fine Painitng in the 7-20 at Kempton. She ran well enough last time out and I think she could be the best one in this race.

    Good luck everyone

    Hello lads.

Danbo,Bundle of Fun is 22lb lower than his hurdles mark so in theory should be the biggest shooin since Souwester who won a chase at Plumpton in 2007 off a mark 38lb below his hurdle mark!

I won't be playing at those odds though.

Morning all, christ this new job is killing me. Anyways managed to sneak off for a few minutes and I have a wee sneaky feeling for Rathlin today, making his chase debut over at Punchestown in the 3.45. A big rugged individual, he was tanking along in front coming down the hill in the Supreme Novices before finishing a very creditable 5th behind Al Ferof et al. He has always looked a chaser in the making and I think he can upset Shinrock Paddy on their chase debuts and take what should be a very informative race. Also hoping for a good run from Forpadydeplasterer as a convincing victory might put him into the King George picture <ok>

Dan - best regards to Willie and here's hoping Patrick gets the job done <ok>

I like Rathlin as well Oddy.

I think todays trip may be too short for Shinrock Paddy who would also appreciate softer ground. This is a good little race to say the least and Lucky William is a real danger as well.

Rathlin does like to race prominently/lead,as you mentioned, and this is a trait I like in a novice chaser.Todays ground is no issue and it is interesting that he makes his fencing bow in grade 3.

The only problems for me are his possible lack of match fitness in his first run for his new stable,he was beaten first time up last two seasons. He also tends to run with choke out a little and the extra two furlongs in this 2m2f event may well be an issue with some staying types and likely late closers in the field.

However, the 100/30 cuurently available with Laddies balances these negatives to a degree and he is worth a moderate investment.

    GL all having a wager.

2.45 Punchestown: Steps To Freedom 6/4- I make no secret of the fact I like this horse a huge amount and I have it down as top of the Supreme Novice hurdle candidates at this moment in time. I would have to revise such an idea if it doesn't win today. Really impressed with it on hurdle debut, beating Leceile with ease, who has since gone on to win almost on the bridle. STF won a very hot bumper at Aintree last season and if continuing to jump well must continue its progress towards the top table.

Just a couple I'm interested in seeing today in the UK, mainly Miss Kalifa 14/1 e.w in the 3.40 at Uttoxeter. Looked to be travelling really nicely on debut despite being keen early, and was brought down when looking menacing in 3rd. Ran in a hot maiden (won by Jan Vermeer) on sole Irish flat start and I think has a decent enough engine to make a good handicapper eventually. That said, I think it can make a mark in maiden company and this race sets a fair standard of around 110, so we'll find out more about the horse today.

In the 2.40 at Uttoxeter, Pinkneys Prince at 7/1 looks interesting down at the minimum trip for Nick Williams, having travelled well when midfield in two bumpers last season.

Dan - Scales looks a nice selection mate, I backed him a couple of times in bumpers last season and I hope he can have a decent season over timber for Trevor Hemmings <ok>

Dexter - I'm hopeful that the fences will help Rathlin apply a bit of choke today <ok>

TopClass there are a couple of decent (if not top notch) yardsticks in the Steps to Freedom race in the shape of Sailors Warn and that Toner thingy of Gordon Elliot's. As you say, if the fav is to be a Supreme Novices horse you'd be wanting him to win convincingly today. Best of luck with him <ok>

Yep, completely agree Oddy. This is a good measuring stick today, so he needs to pass the test if he is to be up to that level. I have liked what I have seen so far though, and at least we get some sort of answer today, be it positive or negative!

Jess Harrington seems to really be coming on leaps and bounds in both codes. Steps To Freedom is rated 104 on the flat after his performances this summer, so he has a fair old engine. Jumped well on debut but has to make that into a consistency.
