http://www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/...napp-wants-others-out-of-qpr-after-cup-defeat Harry Redknapp suggested that some of his players had reached the end of the line at QPR after the Capital One Cup Cup defeat against Burton â but Adel Taarabt was praised for his performance. Taarabt, making his first appearance for Rangers since May 2013, showed glimpses of his ability before tiring in the second half. The playerâs future remains unclear ahead of the approaching transfer deadline, but manager Redknapp believes he could yet have a future at Loftus Road. âWe saw one or two tonight who I donât think are going to get in my team and are better off moving on.â â Harry Redknapp Redknapp said: âIt was only Taarabt who did himself any good tonight. I thought in the first half he was different class. âHe got a bit tired towards the end but I thought his performance was encouraging and if we can get him fit he could be an asset. âI donât know what heâs going to do â heâs got a buy-out clause I think â but you saw in that first half that his ability is on another level. âWhen he wants to play heâs a fantastic talent. He can do things other people canât do.â But other fringe players failed to impress. League Two outfit Burton deserved their win despite Redknapp fielding an experienced side, albeit a much-changed one. âIt was a poor performance. We didnât look like scoring in the second half,â Redknapp admitted. âI gave the lads who havenât been playing an opportunity to show me what they could do and they showed me what they could do â and it wasnât an awful lot. âWe look off the pace still. We look like weâve got a few players still trying to get their match fitness. âWe saw one or two tonight who I donât think are going to get in my team and are better off moving on.â Shaun Wright-Phillips was especially poor and was jeered by the travelling Rangers fans when he was substituted in the second half. âShaun had a tough night tonight,â said Redknapp.
Who do we think Harry is looking to dump then? SWP, but that's a no brainer really. Henry? Matt Phillips? A lot of people on here thinks he has an issue with Ali. (Personally I'll be well miffed if Ale goes.)
Ali's been in his side, so I wouldn't have thought he's talking about him. It's only SWP imo. Or possibly Henry too
It makes sone sort of sense though I agree with Quality Passing Rules (which would be nice to see, by the way!) that losing Ale without a proper trial would be sad.
I'm trying to think of players he hasn't signed that played tonight. I get the feeling that that it's something important to him.
RTID... I'm sure our paths will cross one day. C&S or somewhere like that. I have plans to get back to HQ, just can't put them into practice yet.
He's talking about players who he hasn't used in the Hull/Spurs games. So it's not Ali or anybody like that. To be honest I think it's just a cryptic way of specifically talking about SWP
Oh without a doubt SWP is on the list. A blind leper, who's ears have fallen off and been eaten but his pet dog, could have listened to that tonight and thought the lad gotta go.
To be honest I wouldnt be surprised if Phillips was in that group. He can consistently under performed. However, those comments from Harry are pretty worrying. With 6 days until the transfer window closes it seems we are in a mess!
What makes me think of Phillips is in all the time harry has been here, Philips has been injured a fair bit and when he has had chances, not really set the stage alight. I wouldn't say we're in a mess though, but certainly untidy and requiring some house keeping. With 6 days to go it's slight unnerving for sure.
Phillips was a sub Vs Hull and started Vs Spurs- he's clearly in Harry's plans. He's been played out of position in 2 consecutive games now. His Qpr career started slowly after an elbow injury- and then once he finally picked up form he broke his ankle. Plus he cost us £5mill- so it's unlikely the management would be giving up on him that quickly
There has been talk that Phillips is wanted (don't know who by), so I expect him to be gone by Monday. Someone texted the commentators on Radio London that SWPs contract is up in the next month. Don't know where they got that from. Is it true?
SWP must have had a bad game tonight. Sky News have been talking for the last hour now about how he's being dumped tomorrow, if he don't resign tonight.
Ok here's my shot in the dark on who Harry Redknapp is referring to: Murphy - unlikely Simpson - unlikely Onuaha - unlikely Dunne - very likely Hill - unlikely Hoillet - unlikely Faurlin - unlikely Henry - very likely Wright Phillips - definitely [singled out for criticism] Taarabt - definitely not [singled out for praise] Phillips - very likely So in summary.... in Ant and Dec voice.... Richard Dunne Karl Henry Shaun Wright Phillips Matt Phillips It could be you!
He's another who nearly always seems played out of position. When I have seen him used wide right he was decent, good runs good crosses for Austin especially, but not sure he could do that in the PL. But Arry often plays him wide left, some sort of 10 role, and up front where he don't look good at all.
Hopefully one good thing about sky focusing in on SWP, is that at least publicly, it keeps some of the other players we might want to keep from tonight, out the media scrutiny. That can create even more unsettling vibes and we have enough of our own already. Personally, if sky assist us in getting rid of SWP, while not hammering the other under performers tonight, I'd be happy. Surely the rest of the squad must see that he's a hopeless cause and won't be to bothered by the public criticism. Basically if they're going to slag off our players, better its one that we would ourselves and is without doubt going soon. (Or at least had better be but how many times have we all mis-read what is going to happen.)
I reckon its the other Phillips he's talking about too. He barely had a look in pre-season and was only chucked in at Spurs out of desperation. By the looks of him, he's not fit either.
Hard to pick faults in that Sku. Think you have got close to my thinking. Although I have to admit, till tonight I though Adel might be going to.
Dunne's definitely not in it Sku. Although he's gone to pot, Harry knows its just because he's clapped out, not because he ain't trying. He's as honest as the day is long.
