Some are saying that there are three worse teams than us,honestly don't think so,over the last few weeks I've seen the bottom three no way are they worse than us
Its hard to make a case but we must keep hoping. This result was what most of us feared, but still hoped for a win against the odds. But stats say that Villa along with just about every team in this league know they must beat us and they usually do. Another miracle is needed but things are not looking good.
The current league standings would suggest there are (just) three teams worse than you. I can't see you going down as that four point margin is quite a tough amount for the ones who barely string any sort of form. Burnley might catch you but they could be in for a thumping tonight,
We have a 4 point head start in a 10 game season between the bottom 4. I personally cannot see us winning another game. We need 9 points which would mean the bottom three need to win half of their remaining games. I can't see us getting 9 points. The only card left to play is sack Gus and hope for a bounce from a new manager. However if we do scrape by and stop up well the cracks are papered over. Cheap reinforcements will be made and we will continue on this same sorry path. It's time questions were put to Ellis Short and his true ambitions.
I can see burnley or leicester putting a late run of results together, and it wouldn't take much to surpass us. i don't see us getting another thing after today.
Some great points there in particular Shorts ambition if poyet is Brown bread we can either do it on the cheap again or make a statement of intent and go and take a manger
We have laid out over a hundred million on players over ES's ownership and he took over a huge debt as well which is just about cleared. The club is stable but the team is lousy, but put yourself in his place - find a manager, give him a budget and say show me how good you are and there will be more. No return on investment gives him some idea of future spending so we end up standing still until we get a manager with drive and imagination.
Ellis Short has consistently placed the team side of the club in 'football men's' hands - first Niall Quinn, then Steve Bruce until his position became untenable, next Martin O'Neill till the season ticket sales began to crumble, and finally di Canio and Poyet. I'm as angry as hell about this season's, and particularly today's, performances, like most other people on here, but blaming the footballing side now on people like Short and Byrne, who have never involved themselves in that side is plain wrong. I agree with every word of what Nostalgic has just said.
We need to scrap this flirtation with the DOF's imo, it's been a totally calamitous exercise, I'm at a loss as to why Ellis persists with it. Stop hiring apprentices & shell out the dosh to bring in someone who knows the premier league. And as for Maggie, she may well have nice tits but she's way out of her depth in this job if you ask me.
I kinda agree about Directors of Football, Billy. I think that was an act of desperation on the part of Short because he learned the hard way he couldn't trust managers like Bruce or even Chairmen like Quinn. I personally don't like the DoF idea. I think, after investing so much money for nowt, Ellis is probably tearing his hair out to know what WILL work. Byrne's job is business administration, not football though, and I'm sorry but bringing her into it just isn't fair on the lass. She does decent work on the business side.
We have a 1 point start in a ten game season! We have, on paper, easier games but we are possibly the worst I've seen for a long time! Not squeaky bum but full on ****ting myself! Losing sleep too!
Nah, don't lose any sleep about it marcus. There are guys paid £30,000 a week for that, and still get excuses made for them. You have a good night's sleep mate, and let them take responsibility for their own actions - or lack of actions. Sod 'em, don't let's lose sight of who's letting who down here. I didn;t lose 4 - 0 at home to Villa, did you? Nighty-night mate.
