I can't believe we are retaining that clown Nyatanga, and whilst I fully agree that Louis has been a great servant, it was also an opportunity to move on.

Frankly disappointed and less than impressed, and I am now wondering what other 'surprises' we have in store for us.

I don't think carey will be playing much. He will be there to help out the team and share what he knows and when we need him he can step in. Nyatanga had a good end of season and he isn't half as bad as most make him out to be. Still only 24 and worth keeping at league 1 level. Happy with everything the club has done here <ok>

Happy enough to see Carey kept if he signs. Experienced, cheap, flexible ... Seriously hope he coaches at the club as I hope the "way" will be to play and Louis actually can v others who are a bit scary on the ball.

Pros and cons for Heaton to stay are.
Pros - lives locally and will get first team football.
Cons - higher level of football and more money

As for Nyatanga he has played well under SOD and has put in a few shifts. Not saying we couldnt find better but on the other hand there is quite a bit of interest in him so dont think he will stay if a bigger club comes in.

Carey is here to be a future coach but unless we finally find some new defenders will end up playing most of the season and with another season he might just break the record

I would expect Carey to move onto a further role. I would have replaced Nyatanga, but won't gnash and gnarl about it. More interested in the shape of midfield and how O'driscoll will look to create a more attacking team.

When you look at out defence. CB's especially there isn't many there. I think nyatanga and Carey are being offered new contracts because if we have a repeat of last summer we will be left with Liam fontaine! I don't mind Nyatanga I think he can do a job in league 1. If SOD can sort his hoofing habit out and get him a bit more composed he will be a good defender for us. Still only 24 so still time to develop. He is better than Fonts and probably Carey due to age. Tangs and McFadzean will probably be our first choice CBs with fontaine and Carey as back up.

If, as it seems, James Wilson is still under contract, Carey and Nyatanga accept and sign the new contracts and Fontaine is still here because he has a contract until 2014, what bloody difference will there be next season to this one?

We still will not have a decent centre back and for crying out loud, it's what has caused our dreadful run over the last three years since Caulker went back to Spurs.

If this remains the best we can have, then Conference HERE WE COME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have to say I agree with Cider Abroad, moving to sign Tanglefoot and Carey, with J.Wilson and Fontaine still here means we have 4 CB on the books with possibly some youth behind the scenes. Why would the club trying to reduce the wage bill etc be rushing out to buy another?

Think we will all be crying out the same thing this season as we have for the past 3 summers.

Extremely worrying.. I die inside every time I see faultaine and nyaclanga put this club down slowly game by game.. Looks like they have the opportunity to do this in league 1 as well..

right i'm going to say what I really think.. I think carey is only given a contract because of this new record..which shows everything wrong with the club, we have too much of a "nice" culture the place, which clearly shows on the pitch because of the 10 powder puffs who run around like headless chickens with no bite or effort to their game.

Carey isn't good enough, he hasn't been for a few years now.. so why on earth we gave him a contract I'm not so sure.. the club needs a mean streak.. and telling carey in nice terms to piss off would of been a start..

Oh well, another season of struggle and **** players underperforming.. but that doesn't matter, carey has got his record!!!!!! <doh>

I got told he's a legend I know **** all and he would be the first on the team sheet every week etc

It's the problem, you get some saying we should have a complete clear out then when we retain players it's the best thing we've done.

In my opinion all the players failed last year so if they are out of contract they go. If the others get sold then so be it, as long as we get paid for them,

The whole team failed last year.

Sorry guys louis is still the best centre half by a country mile at the gate, unless we can bring in better then he will do a excellent job in league 1.

exactly, it's like this we're rewarding **** players for putting us in this current position.. But also these players we're keeping on like nyaclanga, carey have a losing mentality, takes wolves for example.. they kept some of their underachieving premiership players into the championship thinking they'll storm the league.. how wrong could they be..

Sadly I only see another year of struggle at this club, especially if we keep the same prats who are the reason we're in this woeful position..

Can you imagine Fontaine or Nyatanga getting their skull fractured for the Bristol City cause, I can't and Carey did, I think he's worth a season and he ain't a prat...
