Right that's it, We have three or maybe four years at the latest to sort ourselves out The FAW have applied to host the Champions League Final in Cardiff with the 2013 final being held in Wembley........the earliest it could be played would be 2014 but more likely 2015, so if Cardiff City are going to have home advantage against the likes of Barcelona or Real Madrid in the final, well Malky and the lads need to pull their collective fingers out OK we've never played Barca.........but Real Madrid didn't particularly enjoy their last trip to CCFC
Proph I hope you are right on this as I could be on to a winner.. I have a bet with a colleague about which of our teams will win the Champions League first (ever the optimist)... I think I am on to a good thing as he's a Forest Fan (I reckon their grand past has clouded his judgement) 2015 would be good for me...
Planning for your retirement brizzle. The bet may pay out just in time. Would love to be proved horribly wrong though. We need to worry about top 2 in the championship before top 4 in the Premier League. So, promotion this year, consolidation next, a practise run the year after ready for the real push and our day in the sun in Cardiff the year after.
Alas the bet is for the princely sum of £10.... I don't earn much but I think i'd be hard pressed top retire on that! We haven't even allowed for Net Present Value so by the time we win it (as I'm sure we will) my tenner may just about buy me half a pint
yup, I saw Ronaldinho score!! against Parma in a the first, last and only Cardiff invitation cup. crap turnout. probably due to the poor advertising and the fact it was £35 a ticket!!!
I was there as well! There was a 12,000 crowd, It was on the expensive side and I think Cardiff had played that afternoon (possibly away) which obviously reduced numbers. Worth going though, to see a magnicent piece of skills rom Ronaldhino when he leapt like salmon to take a 50 yard pass on his chest. The Millennium should have been used as a venue for a European football final long ago.
All the teams who visited the Millenium when Wembley was being rebuilt were very happy with the stadium facilities..................and the fans raved about it, Wembley a nice stadium, but stuck in the middle of nowhere..........the fans are a captive audience at Wembley and end up paying rip off prices, The Millenium is in the middle of the City, with a large choice of reasonably priced pubs, clubs and restaurants, a lot of decent reasonably priced hotels and good road and rail links...........twenty minutes from the airport, and the infrastructure has been in place for years for some massive Rugby occasions, and it has hosted World boxing championships, and some Massive bands................a European final is a no brainer really
I thought the stadium was ok for a Europa League final but didn't meet the criteria for a champions league final, something to do with hospitality?
The Hospitality issue has been mentioned as an excuse. In reality that is a sham. That is not a real reason. The cost of last years ticket was someting like £350 (For an adult and child). It is about time the Final was returned to the real fans - and Cardiff fits the bill.
Should also have mentioned that one of the reasons why the authorities didn't want the final in the UK was the tax that the players would have to pay. Special "dispensation" was sorted out for last years final at Wembley. Perhaps the same effort was not made in the past (or was not able to be made) to enable the final to be played in Wales.
Brizzle, being a whipper snapper, invest your £10 now and the compond interest by the time you retire should ensure you get the full pint.
