Just got back... it was a late one last night in Piccadilly Circus. The way we set up away is bang on, see no reason we can't win a lot of away games like this again this season. Waggy looked a lot better than I was expecting. Critical of Dawson and Korren they were both ****.
I agree with you on Koren - didn't contribute much & wasn't surprised when he was subbed. Thought Daws was OK as was the defence in general. We lost our heads a bit on the counter attacks late on. Several good breaks but the "kids" chose the wrong option too often and the attaacks fizzled out. The way we set up and play we will do better away than at home again this year. we need to figure out how to break down teams that are not coming forward.
my concern with Dawson is that he looks like he is struggling, he always looked comfortable. I think he is really having a hard time keeping up.
Koren looked tired cos he's played for Slovenia twice since our last match. 1st Half, we had a few chances but then were very defensive for the remainder. They put us under a bit of pressure but didn't do an awful lot with it. We seemed to soak it up quite well. However there was nothing sticking up front to releave the back 4. Second Half, the strikers got about their defence alot better. We somehow found more time on the ball in the middle and actually tried to play it around. Yes they stepped up the tempo after we scored but that's normal. We also had a decent amount chances in the second half- Hobbs' header brought a goos save from the keeper, someone else hit the bar. Maybe we need to work on shooting and cutting the ball back in training. Mclean took his goal well and Waggy ran himself in to the ground. Hobbs and Chester coped with their forwards well. Basso's save at the end was terrific.
He was hanging off Boyd's shirt a couple of times yesterday and he was certainly struggling for the last ten minutes, after he got clattered.
i think **** is a bit harsh on dawson, i think its a fairer description of cairney, there was a couple of attempted challenges he made, where he should be ashamed to call himself a bloke, ive been booted harder by my 9 year old niece.
I bumped into someone outside the ground who'd told their better half they were just nipping out to Morrison's, at least I told mine where I was going.
It was definitely Cairney's worst game for us this season, I thought we looked better when he moved out wide and Koren came into the middle(I'd have liked to have seen Dudgeon come on for Cairney and Koren stay in the middle, I know he didn't do a fat lot in the first half, but we was looking more effective in the middle). I'd agree that Dawson wasn't bad yesterday, if he's fit(which he might well not be judging by his limp at the end of the game), I wouldn't mind seeing him stay at left back with Dudgeon on the left and Brady on the right, with Fryatt/Waghorn up front and McKenna/Koren in the middle(or Oli, if he's fit and we haven't found any takers).
I kept a close eye on Hobbs yesterday and he hardly put a foot wrong . A very solid performance , maybe having the extra burden of being skipper was affecting his game ? Saying that I didn't think he was playing badly when he was captain so I've contradicted myself a bit . Chester was class as well . My only gripe was Brady . Needs to get his head up and keep it simple at times . Great win and some good football played , Oh and Evans was very good when he came on .
Wasn't at the game but another good 3 points. Sounded like a good game on the radio. Credit to Pearson for dropping Fryatt. May send a good message out. Where are the anti-Pearson brigade today?
Still here. Though he made the right decision yesterday (as I said before the game), so I can't have too many complaints. I would say though that our away form under Pearson has always been good, it's the home form he needs to sort out before I change my opinion on him.
Koren frustated me, really lazy at closing men down, hes Geovanni mark 2, but when and how long do we wait for his moments of class? his workrate is apalling, imo he'l be the one to make way for Stewart in his defence without sounding like a schizophrenic he did one quality cross field ball. Cairney again too lazy for me, first half not trackin back almost led to a peteboro goal, not enough work. In fact would anybody swap Koren and Cairney for Mcann and Boyd i definatly would. Think throughout our game our biggest problem was controlling that central midfield area the posh did this alot better than us, i think we have to give massive credit to Hobbs and Chester for blocking and dominating in the air. Waghorn was brilliant, held it up well and provided some class, cant fault Mccleans effort won alot in the air he maybe shouldnt of, his touch lets him down at times. Brady good outlet to ease pressure but end product really needs working on, attacks of 3 on 3 at times and he ****ed it by runnin into his marker. Rosie had a decent game, was a bit laid back first 5 which almost cost us but stepped it up after that and passed it well and snubbed out there attacks, Dawson for me looks like his reactions to a attackers turn of direction have slowed and he gets caught out , gets drawn into fouls now. Defence and goalie Solid. Midfield weak area need a playmaker in the Boyd (first half) mould swap him for cairney all day! Mckenna doesnt control games enough again id prefer MCann. Attack quite good considering we lack a playmaker City fans ****ING CLASS!!!!
I think Rosie's getting rather pissed off with Brady, he was shouting at him a lot yesterday, often with some justification.
Yeah awful when he ran through and had waggy, fryatt and dudgeon to pass too against 3 defence and he tried those step overs crikey , mayb a lil too arrogant, needs the fergie hairdyer worked for ronaldo
I thought Dudgeon looked really lively when he came on! Made sme cracking tackles, covered lots of ground and got forward. I thought Pearson made the right call, Koren looked tired and Cairney slow/lazy. For me Daws was ok as were the rest of the team.
Id rather see Dudgeon at left wing instead of Koren at the minute, he doesnt look interested, really lazy, just concerned with Dawson after yesterday, Tell you what There rightback impressed me, Little good player.
Agreed, his name is Mark Little and he's currently storming the Peterborough fan vote(41%) for MotM in our game.
