There has been a lot of talk about of Modric moving to Manchester United recently, and SAF has come out a few times and said that he admires the player. What I'm asking you guys is what your views are on the player, the likelihood of the move, and the fee you would be willing to pay for him. Given his worth to our team (trust me, it's far more than the goals/assists stats could ever show) I would be somewhat insulted if Levy considered anything below £30 million, but that said, I consider a transfer unlikely this year. So what do you think?
For £30 million you'e getting into Wesley Sneijder money and Sneijder is a much more proven player than Modric. I like Modric, but he's a £20 million player, £25 million at a big stretch. £30 million for him shouldn't even be considered.
I agree with you on the fact that £30 million is probably too much, but an awful lot of transfers have been overpaid on recently (Torres, Carroll, dare I say it even Berbatov?) so I could see that happening - although perhaps I was being slightly optimistic. I don't think Sneijder is the right player if you really are looking for an replacement for Scholes, Sneijder strikes me as far more of a 'second striker' and I think he would find it difficult in central midfield in the Prem. Depends on who you play around him of course......
Sneijder I believe would happy fit into our midfield and the Prem, his a proven great player but yes agree we would have to put him beside a pit-bull type of player to sit and offer him support in doing the dirty work. We have never replaced roy and thats been our biggest problem. Darren fit might suit him but that only a guess.
Do you lot have a scouting system that could find players the way Spurs do?? You have an arrogance level beyond belief, by the way start talking £40m plus and still you will fail to get Modric
Why on earth would United even entertain the notion of stumping up £40m, let alone actually doing it? Bloody yids, always trying to fleece ya.
spurs scouting system ?? you found modric because of Newcastle ! the pull of London was what swung it, so don't flatter yourself. scouting system my arse.
And I'm pretty sure Man United were in for Bale before Spurs ever registered interest. We just didn't follow up on that interest with the sort of offer Spurs made. Mind you, looking at Bale's back problems, this may not necessarily be a bad thing.
