One of our fans summed it up beautifully today. Keep on the way we are going, and the championship beckons. What bubble would that be?Undefeated in 17 games and 8 points from 4 games so far this season. That's an average of 2 points per game - promotion form in other words.
sorry, but we are not undefeated in 17 games we lost to Rotherham late march so we haave lost one in 17 but so far this season 8 points from 4 is promotion form
I believe we are undefeated in last 10 league games. And without looking up the stats, is it only five league defeats since SC arrived? Two v Rotherham
wider picture needs looking at... we need to beat most teams at home at least 14 and draw 6 and away we need to nail teams like Rochdale not drop 2 points, against Notts we need to win at least draw as they are probably mid table contenders. Cant argue 2 points a game isn't promotion contention, lets see after 12 games ! and more than 20 points!
As I said on another thread I don't believe we are the finished goods yet and it will take more than a point at the likes of Rochdale to convince me that we are truly promotion contenders. If you look at the history of some of our opposition this season it doesn't exactly make world class reading does it, and until such time as we breeze through such opposition I will stay on the fence with my optimism. That probably won't surprise a lot of people and I just want to ask Bristol City to show me the money.
If we could sign one player in this transfer window most people would sign a center half although we have looked fairly secure this season due to Flints terrific form, plus we have Osbourne to come back from injury. I on the other hand would sign a good left wing back as i think its an area we have looked weak in so far this season, we conceeded 2 of our league goals (Colchester and Rochdale) from that position/player and dont look too good going forward on the left. Other option for me would be to play Freeman there, What position would you strengthen?
I'm not one for being confident, especially when the team is often played out of the park in the second half. I've been on holiday, so I've not caught the last two results, but we sounded lucky to draw in those instances from what I've heard. However, what SC has instilled into the club is a sense of optimism, and that's something the best players in the world won't give you. If it's promotion form then I'm happy to tout that we've got promotion form, and I imagine that SC is the same. If this keeps the spirits of the squad up then I'm all for it. Bring on the next opponent!
I think it's in every City's fans DNA to sit there and wait for it to go horiibly wrong - because in the past 9 times out of 10 it has My opinion is that the start is encouraging, and we should get better as the new arrivals get more used to playing with each other and in the system that Cott's wants to play.
Is when we lose a game will we see what the players are made of.. Stats mean nothing at this stage of the season.....we will get a better picture after 12 games.
Need to show we have some mental strength too. If we can come back with a point or more from Meadow Lane on Sunday I will be happier than I was with just 1 point from Rochdale.
Since Sheffield our performances have gone one way, South. Scraped past Colchester, drew with Orient, lost to Oxford at home and drew at Rochdale. Cotterill's 2nd half decisions are verging on the ridiculous. Let's hope his brain is in gear at County, I'm not hopeful.
As I said previously, I truly believe we caught Sheff Utd cold on the opening day and all the pressure and weight of expectation was on them being favourites for the championship and being at home. We wobbled at Bramall Lane towards the end of the first half and in truth we've not been totally convincing ever since. Notts County will be a tough game make no mistake
Without sounding too negative I agree, I can remember many games last season under cotts such as wallsall and Notts county where we were awful the whole game and somehow scraped wins.. The last 3 performances have been below par but I'll there's 7 new players trying to bed in, so I'm not to concerned at that. When he gets the right formation for our best players to thrive in I think we will see a difference.
I loved Denman. Real positivity, gave everything. 'The last 3 performances have been below par but I'll there's 7 new players trying to bed in' I agree,of course it takes time. However that's clouding the stupid 2nd half decisions Cotterill has made. ElAbd FFS, Wagstaff full stop, Ayling in midfield, Jet for the last 20 seconds - I ask you. ps It took a so called 'wonder save' to take a point at Rochdale, Cotterill needs to step up Sunday.
