http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/thomas-vermaelen-out-arsenals-far-2039210 And just like that, we could go into a new season with just two fit CB's. Vermaelen might be injured, Djourou has been sent on loan to Hamburg, and thankfully Squillaci has been released. Surely, we have to invest if the Vermaelen story is true? We have been linked to Ashley Williams, but I am not sure about him. I would much prefer a younger CB and one that can eventually replace either Mert or Kos. Kyriakos Papadopoulos would be my choice.
****ing hell, what is it with our players and ****ing injuries? Forgetting the back injury, Podolski and Vermaelen have had troublesome ankle injuries all season (Vermaelen has been taking injections for months), I thought they were going to have surgery to sort them out? Maybe they don't need it but if the season starts with both of them sitting on the bench because they are not fit enough to play from the start then questions have to be asked.
Hate to spoil your moment of faux angst, but here's a list of some other injured EPL players just in case anyone is stupid enough to think only Arsenal players get hurt. Nani N Powell C Smalling A Young D Fletcher A Al-Habsi C McManaman R Stam M Pollitt I Ramis R Elliott T Krul R Taylor S Fletcher W Brown D Rose S Ranieri A Carroll G McCartney C N'Zogbia A Dejagah D Sturridge S Sinclair W Hoolahan S Wright-Phillips J Roberts G Thorne yacontcha!
What does that list have to do with anything? I am talking about Podolski and Vermaelen who were carrying injuries all of last season and had limited playing time or below par performances because of it. I thought they were going to have surgery this Summer. What's happened???
