Away from the Boleyn we have some other top games toady. Highlight must be the lunchtime kick off where I think Spurs with Bale in awesome form, can overturn Chelsea. West Brom v Man City should also provide a few goals! Here's hoping for defeats for the bottom 3 as all of them look as if they have tricky matches! Predictions?
Chelsea to beat Spurs and give Bale a slight niggle that means he can only last 5 minutes next Sunday; just enough for a round of applause.
Best possible results for us today: Spurs and Chelsea draw with several Spurs players sent off and several others pick up minor 1 week injuries Aston villa loose at Fulham Reading loose at Liverpool Stoke loose at Man Utd Swansea and Wigan draw West Brom loose to Man City Norwich loose to Arsenal and West Ham loose to us!
Nah, that would be too good for their morale ahead of next weekends game. I've also found myself rooting for Di Matteo, has done a fantastic job since stepping in. As for the other teams in our "mini-league" :- Can see Reading suffering a fairly heavy loss, Liverpool seem to be getting into their stride, and Anfield away is always a big ask. Can't see Norwich have a hope against Arsenal, looks like Wilshere might get a 2nd half run-out today incidentally. Don't think Villa will improve their record on the road against Fulham, but a point isn't out of the question. Everton also look good value to take QPR apart. If we can get a result against West Ham it could open up a little bit of breathing room and take the pressure off the team a little.
My theory is they might be complacent against us if they win today. Worst case scenario is that they lose for me as they'll be determined to pick up 3 points against us. I prefer Spurs to Chelsea also.
Love that to be true but in the PL there is no logic to results. Anyone can win on the day. That said a few Spurs injuries would help!
Friedel was done a favour by that deflection, that was coming at head-height don't think it would have ended well for him! Would have been good for Lloris though, interesting way to come in the side however, replacing a decapitated teammate.
Don't think its been mentioned elsewhere. Saints U18s beat Aston Villa U18s 3-1 to go back to the top of the table. Sinclair got the first and Seager scored another 2, the second being a bicycle kick. That lad is on fire at the moment!
Norwich need to take these chances. I find it hard to see that Arsenal will fail to score in this match.
OK well we badly need Everton to do the business at QPR this afternoon! The Newcastle game should be feisty!
Thoughts on the red card? Completely disagree with Le Tissier. Never a red for me. Yellow. Almost zero force applied by Tiote. Can't see how this could possibly be a red. Also slow it down from both angles and Tiote only had eyes for the ball. His foot goes exactly where the ball would have been.
I'm kind of on the fence about it. On the one hand it is a fairly dangerous challenge, those kind of challenges can end horribly and I understand the reasoning behind stamping down on them. But on the other hand, there was so little force and danger in the actual tackle that it just makes it hard to believe he deserves to get sent off for that. The big decision that I think went against Newcastle was about 2 minutes after that and it went largely unnoticed apart from one replay. Larsson quite clearly handballed it in the box for me, the ball was heading into his body, so he wasn't exactly flailing an arm out, but he clearly from what I could see moved his arm towards the ball and pushed the ball down in an effort to control it. Definite handball from what I saw of it, but might be wrong as like I say it went largely went unnoticed and only had the one replay.
