Who's been your find of the season for us so far? It's easy enough, the only rule is they have to have played their first game for City this season, and your choice should be the one you think has been best value. My choice is McKenna. He's a free transfer so he's boosted his value for money, but he's also the only one that's really impressed and made himself a key player. Brady could have been but we've not been using him properly for the first half a season, and Basso's knee has gone. (it was at this point I began wondering what exactly our scouting department did in the 2nd half of last season, it's amazing how many of our players were here last season)
I think it's all too easy. It's McKenna by an absolute mile. He's hardly a find though. As I said many times in the summer (not that anyone listened) he's been a top player at this level for a loooooong time.
Apart from the United lads, were any of the players we signed scouted and found unexpectedly good? The players that would have needed proper scouting and assessment were Pusic and Belaid, and neither of them set the world alight (I did like Belaid though, I think he'd have gone well in this system now) Best signing this summer without a doubt is McKenna, he took a little while to settle in and initially I wasn't too impressed with him, but since the end of September he's changed my opinion of him and has been brilliant.
He makes the team tick and his huge experience is very obvious. I don't know what's not to like, he plays the ball on the floor and gets just about every move....moving. His ability is obvious, so McKenna for me also.
McKenna again, I must say after the first few games I was concerned! But he's really impressed me since!
How come you have such strong opinions on players when you admit you rarely (if ever?) see them play? What are you basing it on?
finding koren can play centrally, brave call from barmby to try it, cant believe nobody thought of it before.
You really are the most miserable **** this side of the equator. I can't help but think you'd only be happy if we were 10 points clear at the top of the Premier League. I suppose that's what comes from being such a young kid and having only supported City whilst they've been on the up.
He's been one of the best performers recently, after a shaky start he's become an integral part of the team. I mentioned on Saturday how poor the midfield looked without him, there was no one to break up play like Mckenna does. When the ball was in midfield Cairney and Evans were over ran far too easily, which made Mckenna's absence stand out. The praise he gets is well deserved imo.
Nah, I just think McKenna's not the footballing God some people think he is. I just don't get his sudden elevation into "can do no wrong" territory. It's Stephen Hunt all over again, but not quite as severe.
Before his knee injury i'd have also have said Basso. He may not be as much of a find but given our keeper worries early season he had a big role to play in our good form in September - October.
Fair enough but let's face it, there's never really been a footballing God playing for City so I wouldn't be expecting one to turn up anytime soon. There's been a couple of false prophets but Gods, nope.
I don't think people think he's a footballing god, he's just getting recognition for his efforts which is deserved. If anything Chester, Rosenior, Koren and Stewart probably get more praise then Mckenna does. The 'footbaling god' thing seems to be blowing things out of proportion, nobody has claimed he is, we're just making note of his efforts. If his form drops i'm sure it'll be picked up on, but you can't look for wrong if there's none really there. As for Stephen Hunt, i'm guessing you mean the one who is currently playing in the Premier League and was one of our better performers in 2009/10?
Fair enough, I thought you missed home games too. NP did it for a few weeks before he left, NB just pushed him up a bit further.
There always has to be a "but" with some folk. He's played by and large incredibly well, very consistently the more he's settled in. I think he deserves the praise.
What a load of bollocks. I've never heard anybody call him "a footballing god". You've obviously made that up in your own head, because you have issues with one of Pearson's acquisitions doing well at City and replacing the likes of Ashbee. I agree with the above, that Mckenna has been a great signing and that it's not just this season that he's done the business in this division- he's done well at Forst beforehand and all.
